Denmark vs Sweden

Coming off a lackluster Nations League run, Denmark managed three wins and three draws in six games but now faces a relegation playoff against Finland in October to maintain their League A status. Their Nations League campaign included two losses to Sweden, notably a 6-1 thrashing in early June, fueling Denmark’s desire for redemption in their upcoming clash.

Sweden, meanwhile, had to navigate the playoffs to secure their place in Switzerland after finishing third in their qualifying group. They dominated the playoff rounds, crushing Luxembourg 12-0 on aggregate in the first round and Serbia 8-0 in the second. Head coach Peter Gerhardsson, in his final major tournament before handing over to former Australia coach Tony Gustavsson, is eager to guide Sweden to their first European Championship title since their victory in the inaugural 1984 tournament.

Sweden’s recent Nations League performance was strong, with three wins and three draws, earning them the top spot in their group and a place in the final four. They head into the Euros in fine form, unbeaten in their last 12 matches since a 2-1 loss to France in July 2024, including a 2-0 friendly win over Norway as a warm-up for the tournament.
