West Ham United is set to welcome Olympiacos to the London Stadium during the UEFA Europa League group stage this Thursday.

As of now, the home team holds the leading position in Group A, having accumulated six points from their first three matches. On the other hand, the visiting team has recorded a victory, a defeat, and a draw in their three games, placing them in the third spot within the group standings.

In the previous encounter between these two teams last month, which took place in Greece, Olympiacos secured a 2-1 victory on their home turf. Kostas Fortounis and Rodinei netted goals in the first half, giving the Greek side a two-goal advantage. West Ham managed to pull one goal back late in the second half, with Lucas Paquetá reducing the deficit in the 87th minute.

In their recent Premier League match, the hosts experienced a 3-2 defeat against Brentford, marking their fourth loss in five games. Meanwhile, the visitors suffered a 4-2 loss to their rivals, PAOK, in the Super League Greece on Sunday.

Three times in European competitions, the two teams have faced off. With one victory apiece for both teams and a tie in their head-to-head record, they are exactly level against one another. In their three encounters, there have been more than 2.5 goals scored, with the home team winning 7–4.In their last five games across all competitions, West Ham United has suffered four losses.

It's interesting to note that their lone victory throughout that time came in the Carabao Cup against rivals Arsenal of London. This season, Olympiacos has won all of its road games in all competitions and has kept three clean sheets. In three Europa League games, both sides have scored six goals; however, the home team has the superior defensive record, giving up two goals fewer (4).

The Hammers have lost four of their past five games, indicating their recent erratic play. They lost narrowly to Brentford on Saturday, and Lucas Paquetá and Edson Álvarez were missing due to suspension. Both players will start this game, strengthening their midfield.

They should have no trouble finding the back of the net as they have at least twice scored in five of their seven home games this season. Kurt Zouma will not be available for David Moyes, who is anticipated to start with a formidable starting lineup.

In their last four games across all competitions, Peiraiós has recorded two victories and two defeats, tallying six goals and giving up eight.

This season, they have not lost when playing away from home, winning three and drawing three.

Including qualifying matches, they have not lost in their last five away Europa League games; however, four of those games have resulted in draws. Head coach Diego Martínez is anticipated to start with the same lineup that won the rematch 2-1; Nicolás Freire is the only player missing.

Right now, not much separates the two clubs, so we're betting on the Hammers to win by a slim margin because they have home advantage.

Only a few days following their historic EFL Cup victory against Arsenal at the London Stadium, West Ham lost 3-2 to Brentford, another capital team.

Moyes must have been quite disappointed with how his team lost on Saturday, since they were ahead 2-1 and Michail Antonio missed a fantastic opportunity to put them ahead 3-1.

Despite having a strong start to the season—winning 10 of their first 4 games—West Ham has allowed 11 goals in this bad run of play, which has exposed a weakness in their defense. As a result, they are now 11th in the Premier League.

The Hammers have only won four of the last seven games, losing five of them. This fixture is under more strain now that they have suffered a setback in Europe.

Although their loss to Olympiacos on matchday three did not completely ruin their chances of winning the group, they are now tied for first place with Freiburg, who play TSC Backa Topola this week. A loss would probably cause them to fall out of the top two.

A victory here for the visitors would be an incredible achievement, similar to their triumph in Greece two weeks prior, as West Ham had won 16 of their previous 17 games without a loss.

It also preserved Olympiacos' dreams of advancement, since a loss would have left them far behind even halfway through the competition.

Diego Martinez, the manager, must have been furious at how they lost late to Freiburg in their group opener and wasted two points in a draw with TSC on matchday two after leading 2-0.

They did, however, defeat the Hammers 2-1 thanks to goals from Kostas Fortounis and Rodinei, so they should go to London with some optimism.

Olympiacos' strong recent record in the English city, where they have won their last two trips there (both against Arsenal in this competition), may potentially be psychologically advantageous.
