Despite having an 8-2 start to the season, the Phoenix Suns have been without Kevin Durant for at least two weeks because of a calf injury he sustained during Friday's victory against the Dallas Mavericks.

In NBA Cup Group Play, Phoenix now faces the Utah Jazz (2-7) in a game that can be won.

The Jazz still have several good young players surrounding All-Star forward Lauri Markkanen, even if they won't be contending this season.

The Suns, who fell to the Sacramento Kings in overtime on Sunday without KD, should find this game fascinating as a result.

Booker has 12 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game on average going into this game, but he's only shooting 42.6 percent from the field and 32.1 percent from three. With Bradley Beal averaging just 17.0 points per game this season with KD out, the Suns need Book to score a lot of points.

Markkanen made his comeback last week after missing three games due to an injury. He scored eight points in a loss to Milwaukee and twenty in a victory against the San Antonio Spurs. Utah really lacks the talent to win most of its games if he isn't performing at an All-Star level.

The Phoenix Suns come into this game with one goal in mind: to challenge for an NBA title. With a roster that boasts superstar talents like Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal, the Suns are undoubtedly one of the most dangerous teams in the league. Their offensive firepower is unmatched, and their ability to score in multiple ways makes them a nightmare for opponents. However, the Suns' challenge this season lies in their ability to mesh their high-caliber individual talents into a cohesive team dynamic.

The Jazz will need to rely heavily on Markkanen’s scoring ability, as well as Kessler’s rim protection. If Utah can limit turnovers and execute in the clutch, they’ll have a real chance at pulling off an upset. The crowd will be buzzing, and the team will look to feed off that energy, with head coach Will Hardy hoping to implement an aggressive style of play that can wear down the Suns’ defense.

One of the most intriguing individual battles in this matchup will be between Devin Booker of the Suns and Lauri Markkanen of the Jazz. Both players are capable of taking over games offensively, and their performances will be pivotal in determining the outcome.

Booker has the ability to score from anywhere on the court, whether it's pulling up from three-point range or driving to the hoop. On the other hand, Markkanen has been on a tear this season, with his ability to stretch the floor and attack the basket making him a versatile threat. Whichever player can dominate in this contest could swing the game in their team’s favor.

This game between the Utah Jazz and Phoenix Suns is sure to be an exciting one, filled with star power, high-flying dunks, and intense defense. While the Suns are the clear favorites due to their depth and experience, the Jazz have proven that they are capable of pulling off upsets when they’re firing on all cylinders.

Look for Phoenix to lean on their superstar trio to push past Utah, but don’t count the Jazz out just yet—they’ve got the tools to make this a competitive and thrilling matchup. The Suns may ultimately come out on top, but expect a hard-fought battle that could go down to the wire.
