Following Nenad Bjelica's departure at the beginning of May, Marco Grote assumed leadership of the Berlin-based club for the second time this season. As the interim manager, Grote is eager for a strong finish against Freiburg in the 34th gameweek.

With a 3-0 victory over UEFA finalists Dortmund in the previous round, Mainz overtook the Berlin-based team, and Koln's comeback against Grote's team has Die Eisemen scrambling to stay out of the inevitable relegation slots.

Aiming to give themselves a chance to maintain their first flight status, supporters coming to the Forsterei on Saturday will be hoping for maximum points to snap a run of three straight losses on their ground.

The Iron Ones might finish second if Union (30 points, -26 goal difference) loses at Heidenheim and Koln (27 points, -29 goal difference) wins. On the other hand, should the capital club triumph and Mainz (with 32 points and a -14 goal differential) lose at Wolfsburg, the club would end the gameweek with a point differential.

Despite the strong aspirations of the home team, Freiburg is determined to conclude Streich's tenure at the club with a victory, potentially securing European football for the Black Forest squad.

The eighth position could clinch a spot in the Conference League for the Breisgau Brazilians if Bayer Leverkusen triumphs over Kaiserslautern in the DFB-Pokal final. This scenario would mean that the seventh-placed team would then qualify for the Europa League.

Nevertheless, Streich is aiming to surpass Hoffenheim on the final day, with Hoffenheim facing Bayern Munich at home. He is eager to conclude his 12-year tenure at the club on a positive note, and this ambition remains feasible if Freiburg secures a victory on Saturday and Bayern defeats Hoffenheim.

The away supporters have reasons to feel hopeful, having enjoyed over two months without an away loss since their defeat to Augsburg with a score of 2-1 in late February. During this streak, they achieved three wins and a draw, while also keeping clean sheets in their victories over Borussia Monchengladbach (3-0), Darmstadt (1-0), and Koln (0-0).

Although Freiburg's performance at the Europa-Park Stadion hasn't been satisfactory in their recent eight home games, where they failed to secure any victories, they have recently relied on their away results. The Breisgau Brazilians are hopeful for one final triumph to bid farewell to their outgoing manager with maximum points.

Due to a booking from Union's previous game against Koln, the midfield player will not be available on Saturday.

Kevin Vogt is iffy for the Iron Ones due to a knock, although Jakob Busk (calf) is not anticipated to play on the last day.

After being dismissed during gameweek 31 against Wolfsburg at the end of April, Kiliann Sildillia is still suspended.

Matthias Ginter (Achilles), Manuel Gulde (hamstring), Daniel-Kofi Kyereh (knee), Philipp Lienhart (knee), Merlin Rohl (thigh), and Kenneth Schmidt (abdominal) are among the players missing this weekend, leaving Streich with a number of absences.
