In a crucial CONCACAF World Cup 2026 qualifier, Trinidad and Tobago face Saint Kitts and Nevis on Friday at Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, with significant implications for advancing to the next round.

A dominant 7-1 victory against the Bahamas on matchday two gave the Soca Warriors a slim one-point lead over Saint Kitts for second place and a spot in the next phase, despite Saint Kitts securing a 1-0 win over the Baha Boys shortly after.

After rallying from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 with Grenada in their first qualifier, Trinidad and Tobago showcased their attacking prowess in the second match, leading 4-0 at halftime and cruising to a decisive win.

Coached by former Manchester United star Dwight Yorke, Trinidad could briefly claim the top spot in Group B—currently trailing Costa Rica by two points—depending on the outcome of Costa Rica’s next game against the Bahamas on Saturday.

Yorke’s squad has displayed strong offensive form, scoring at least two goals in three of their last four competitive matches. However, their defense has struggled, conceding seven goals across their past two games, both losses.

Trinidad and Tobago remain unbeaten at home since a 1-0 defeat to Jamaica in 2024, though their last victory at Hasely Crawford Stadium was a 2-0 win over Guyana in May of the previous year. They hold a strong record against Saint Kitts, winning their last six encounters across all competitions, including a 3-0 triumph at the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Meanwhile, Saint Kitts and Nevis, coming off a mixed World Cup qualifying campaign that stabilized last June, are struggling. Under Francisco Molina, the Sugar Boys lost three of their four recent friendlies, conceding 12 goals in total.

A loss on Friday could effectively eliminate their chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, unless the Bahamas pull off an unlikely upset against Costa Rica the next day.

Saint Kitts have shown resilience on the road, with two of their last three wins occurring away, including a 4-2 victory over Anguilla last month. They’ve also secured positive results in nine of their last 11 international matches when scoring. Their last away win in World Cup qualifying was a 4-0 shutout against the Bahamas in March 2021.
