Monday's Primeira Liga gameweek 14 poster match between Sporting Lisbon and Porto at Estadio Jose Alvalade will take place under the lights.

With 13 games played, these two are now tied for the lead in the Primeira Liga. The competition is fierce as we approach the hectic holiday season.

With a 3-0 victory over Sturm Graz at this location in midweek, Sporting Lisbon wrapped up the Europa League group stages on a high note and guaranteed their place in the knockout stages, second only to Atalanta.

That outcome, though, came after a costly 3-2 loss to Vitoria Guimaraes, which eliminated their league-leading advantage. Benfica and Braga also came within one victory of surpassing them.

In that match, Dani Silva scored the game's winning goal ten minutes before the final siren. Nuno Santos had tied Sporting after their opponents had taken a 2-1 lead, but Goncalo Inacio had opened the scoring.

This season, Ruben Amorim's team has already given up the lead in the top flight once, falling to Benfica 2-1 in a thrilling game that took place just before the November international break.

The Lions will go into this game knowing they are going to have a tough game, but they will take solace in their home record of seven straight victories this season, in which they have scored two goals or more in all but one of those games.

Porto, meantime, will enter this game fresh off an extraordinary 5-3 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk midweek, which saw them secure a spot in the Champions League round of 16, trailing just Barcelona in Group H.

Of the three Primeira Liga teams, only the Dragons have advanced past the Champions League group stages. Benfica and Braga will play in the Europa League in January.

The team led by Sergio Conceicao defeated Casa Pia 3-1 in league play last weekend, bringing their current winning streak to three games after triumphing over Vitoria Guimaraes and Famalicao before the international break.

This season, Porto has performed admirably away from home, collecting 18 of a possible 21 points and winning their last three games since their lone away setback against Benfica in September.

Sporting is the bookies' favorite, yet Porto defeated Sporting 2-1 in their first meeting at this location last season, and they have not lost to Sporting in their previous 13 league encounters dating back to August 2016.
