When South Africa plays its neighbors Zimbabwe at the Free State Stadium on Tuesday night in the CAF World Cup Qualifiers, they will be hoping for another victory at home.

As we enter week four of the competition, there are only three points separating surprising leaders Lesotho from bottom-placed Zimbabwe in Group C, which is still very much up for grabs.

With a 1-1 draw against Nigeria in Uyo on Friday night, South Africa—who will be playing at the Free State Stadium for the first time since 2010—slipped to fourth place in the group standings, but they are still just one point behind the leaders.

Even though they would have like to have all three points as retaliation for losing to the Super Eagles in the Africa Cup of Nations semifinal, a point from what should have been their most difficult away game in the group would probably be considered a good return.

Themba Zwane, who continues to show why his expertise is priceless, helped Bafana Bafana take the lead in Uyo. Fisayo Dele-Bashiru of Sheffield Wednesday tied the score in the second half, and despite a surge of forward motion in the last moments, the South Africans were unable to find the winner.

Hugo Broos's team will next play Zimbabwe, who they encountered in the 2022 World Cup qualifying tournament. They drew 0-0 in Harare in September 2021 and won 1-0 in Johannesburg in November of the same year.
