At Stozice Stadium on Monday night, Slovenia will be looking to win their first match of the 2024–25 UEFA Nations League season when they host Kazakhstan.

On Friday, the hosts and Kazakhstan played to a goalless draw in their League B Group 3 openers. Austria and Kazakhstan were the other teams in the match.

In their previous meeting with Austria, Slovenia led 18 minutes to 0 thanks to a penalty kick by Benjamin Sesko. However, Konrad Laimer tied the game in the 28th minute.

Now on a run of six games without a victory, Matjaz Kek's team has drawn five of those games, including their three group stage matches at Euro 2024. After a goalless draw in the round of 16, they were subsequently defeated by Portugal on penalties.

Since they haven't lost in more than ninety minutes since November 2023, Slovenia is favored to win all three points on Monday. This would put them on four points in League B Group 3 ahead of their two games in October against Kazakhstan and Norway.

Slovenia qualified for the 2022–2023 Nations League by being promoted to League B. They placed third in Group 4 last time out, behind Serbia and Norway, while Sweden was demoted from that division.

On Monday, the national team will play Kazakhstan for the third match. They have won the two previous meetings between the two teams, which took place during Euro 2024 qualification.

On Friday night, Kazakhstan snapped a four-game losing streak by holding Norway to a goalless draw in their 2024–25 Nations League opener.

After placing first in Group 3 and defeating Azerbaijan, Slovakia, and Belarus, the Hawks were promoted from League C to League B for the first time.

The last victory for Stanislav Cherchesov's team came in March when they defeated Turkmenistan 2-0. Prior to their 0-0 tie with Norway, they suffered defeats to Greece, Luxembourg, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.

Kazakhstan's performance against Norway would have given them confidence going into the next few matchups, having been able to keep a certain Erling Haaland quiet throughout the contest on Friday night. Kazakhstan will play Austria and Slovenia again in October.
