On Monday night, Hellas Verona takes on Salernitana in the hopes of securing their Serie A place for another season.

The hosts are mathematically demoted and have nothing more to lose but their pride.

Last Sunday, Salernitana had a chance to surprise Juventus badly, but they lost a stoppage-time equalizer and ended up drawing 1-1 at the Allianz Stadium.

Three minutes before halftime, Niccolo Pierozzi gave the Granata the lead, and they appeared to be in control of the match until Adrien Rabiot scored for Juventus in the 91st minute.

Stefano Colantuono's team, however, plays purely for pride and the outcome didn't really matter because their relegation was guaranteed in April.

Verona's survival hopes were dented last time out, as they surrendered a lead to lose 2-1 against Torino at Stadio Bentegodi, marking their second defeat in the last three matches.

Since March, the Gialloblu have picked up 14 points from a possible 30, which helped them climb out of the relegation zone. However, they remain precariously close, with their 34 points from 36 matches leaving them just two points ahead of 18th-placed Empoli.

Verona's chances of surviving were dashed last game when they lost 2-1 at Stadio Bentegodi against Torino after giving up a lead. This was Verona's second loss in the previous three games.

The Gialloblu have climbed out of the relegation zone since March thanks to their 14 wins out of a possible 30 points. They are only two points clear of Empoli in 18th position with 34 points from 36 games played, therefore they are still in a very tight spot.

Verona, who hasn't achieved the same outcome in these nine games, will be hoping to maintain the trend.

But in their two prior Serie A away games at Salernitana, Hellas has failed to win. They haven't lost two straight games since they were defeated by the Granata and league leaders Inter Milan in back-to-back games in December and January, if they lose on Monday.
