Roma looks to stretch their Serie A undefeated run on Monday by hosting the lowest-place Monza at Stadio Olimpico.

The Roma team achieved ninth straight Serie A wins before qualifying to the Europa League's last 16 round while their visitors face certain relegation.

The consecutive Union of European Football Associations competition matches between Roma and Porto took place on Thursday night.

A fantastic double from Paulo Dybala enabled AS Roma to beat their Portuguese opponents 3-2 and win 4-3 in aggregate to progress in UEFA competition.

Roma awaits Athletic Bilbao for the last 16 fixture following a successful round draw that excluded Lazio but before that they must defeat Como and Monza in Serie A matches.

Roma continues to show growing momentum this season after Claudio Ranieri took charge as their coach because their recent 1-0 win in Parma led to 21 points in their last nine league matches which no other team has achieved.

As the Giallorossi currently occupy ninth position they achieved a successful double with two consecutive wins and both matches ending without goals scored by the opponent. Roma also stands unparalleled among all teams in terms of fewest goals allowed during this year's competition.

The team seeks their fifth consecutive Serie A home win and fifth consecutive point versus Napoli at Stadio Olimpico following their previous string of four home victories coupled with a dramatic draw against Napoli.

Monza enters this match seeking their inaugural Serie A victory against Roma after sharing points with a 1-1 draw in their October matchup with hopes of achieving their first capital-city triumph from the five previous encounters.

The Brianzoli find themselves in a state of disarray as they gear up for Monday's crucial clash. The recent dismissal of Salvatore Bocchetti, who suffered six losses in his seven games in charge, has left the team in a precarious position. In a bid to turn their fortunes around, the club has re-hired former Italy star Alessandro Nesta, who previously managed just one win from 17 matches before his initial departure. However, Nesta's return has yet to spark a revival, as Monza failed to secure their third league victory of the season under his guidance.

The Biancorossi's struggles were further highlighted in their recent goalless draw against fellow strugglers Lecce. This result extended their dismal run, with the team failing to score in three of their last four matches. Their only goal during this period came in a heavy 5-1 defeat to Lazio at the Olimpico, underscoring their offensive woes. With just 13 games remaining, Nesta's side finds themselves seven points adrift of safety, facing an uphill battle to avoid relegation.

Adding to their challenges, Monza must overcome a dreadful away record, having lost their last five matches on the road while conceding at least two goals in each. The task ahead is daunting, and the team will need to defy the odds to salvage their season and secure their place in the league.

It's unclear if Roma's top Serie A scorer Artem Dovbyk will be able to return in time for Monday's match after withdrawing from the second leg against Porto due to a thigh strain; Eldor Shomurodov, a striker for Uzbekistan, is ready to step in.

Otherwise, Ranieri shouldn't have any additional absences to worry about, giving him plenty of room to rotate.
Tomas Palacios, a loanee from Inter Milan, will compete with Arvid Brorsson to join Danilo D'Ambrosio and Andrea Carboni in the Biancorossi's back three, while defensive Monza players Luca Caldirola and Stefan Lekovic are also doubtful and Armando Izzo is out due to suspension.
