Paris Saint-Germain, who are still in shock over their midweek European loss, will play Rennes in Ligue 1 on Saturday at Roazhon Park in an attempt to regain parity.

While Rennes' most recent game resulted in a 4-0 thumping of Montpellier HSC, Les Parisiens were nonetheless doomed to a 1-0 Champions League last-16 first-leg loss to Liverpool on Wednesday.

PSG's ability to come up with fresh ways to lose in the Champions League, death, and taxes. At the Parc des Princes in midweek, Luis Enrique's free-flowing attacking unit launched a barrage of relentless attempts on Liverpool, but they were held at bay by a combination of adroit Alisson Becker and a series of minor refereeing mistakes.

After PSG struggled in vain to find a breakthrough in the French capital, Harvey Elliott—who replaced an ineffective Mohamed Salah—delivered a clinical lesson in finishing with a dramatic late winner. His decisive strike hands Liverpool a significant advantage heading into the second leg at Anfield next week.

As PSG analyze their humbling defeat, they still have a comfortable 13-point cushion at the top of the Ligue 1 table. Their domestic dominance remains unchallenged, having pulled well clear of their closest rivals, Marseille.

Luis Enrique’s squad showcased their strength with a commanding 4-1 victory over Lille on March 1, marking their fifth consecutive league triumph. The reigning Ligue 1 champions remain unbeaten in the 2024-25 domestic campaign, boasting 19 wins and five draws from 24 matches so far.

PSG have been unstoppable on the road since a goalless draw against Auxerre in early December, winning 12 consecutive away games across all competitions. Their Ligue 1 away record is even more remarkable, as they are unbeaten in 36 consecutive matches—a streak dating back to their 3-1 loss to Monaco in February 2023.

Even if Wednesday night's events may have damaged PSG's egos, Les Parisiens emerged from the night unscathed, so Enrique can choose from a fully-fit group going forward.

On the other hand, Rennes is still dealing with the loss of Dogan Alemdar and Alidu Seidu, both of whom suffered cruciate ligament injuries, while Andres Gomez (ankle) is also questionable for the champions' visit.

Additionally, Beyoncé will have to make an unwelcome midfield switch since Cisse, 21, who scored in the Montpellier thrashing, must serve a suspension due to a string of bookings.
