Girona’s fight to stay in La Liga continues as they travel to face bottom-placed Real Valladolid on Tuesday evening.

Currently sitting 15th in the La Liga standings, Girona are four points clear of the relegation zone with three matches remaining, while Real Valladolid are already doomed to relegation to the Segunda Division after a woeful season.

Real Valladolid endured their ninth consecutive La Liga loss on Saturday, falling 2-1 to Mallorca. With just 16 points from 35 games, they are cemented at the foot of the table.

Real Valladolid have scored a league-low 26 goals while conceding a staggering 85 times, highlighting their defensive frailties.

Girona, on the other hand, head into the game after a 1-0 home loss to Villarreal, leaving them still vulnerable to relegation in the closing stages of the season.

Michel’s team, currently 15th with 38 points from 35 matches, are four points above 18th-placed Leganes, but certain results could still see them drop out of the top flight.

After a remarkable 2023-24 season that saw them finish third in La Liga, Girona have struggled this term, grappling with the demands of balancing domestic and European competitions.
