When Real Sociedad hosts Valencia at Anoeta Stadium on Saturday night, they'll be looking to win only their second La Liga game of the year.

The hosts are in 16th place in the standings, one spot above Valencia, who have also had a difficult season, having only managed to accumulate five points from their first seven games of the campaign.

Real Sociedad has played seven La Liga games this season, winning one, drawing two, and losing four. With five points, they are currently in 16th place in the standings, seven points outside of the top four.

The Basques defeated Espanyol 1-0 in their second encounter of the season after an unexpected 2-1 setback to Rayo Vallecano in their opening game.

Since then, though, Imanol Alguacil's team has failed to win any of their five games; they have only managed to draw with Real Valladolid and Getafe and have lost to Mallorca, Real Madrid, and Alaves.

In the meantime, the White and Blues played Nice to start their 2024–25 Europa League campaign on Wednesday night, drawing 1–1.

Real Sociedad has to win all three of their upcoming games, including their European match against Anderlecht next week, in order to get off to a strong start to the season.

Valencia, on the other hand, have also struggled this season. After seven games, they have only managed one victory, two draws, and four losses for a total of five points, placing them in 17th place.

After drawing with Villarreal to begin the season, Los Che lost three straight games to Athletic Bilbao, Barcelona, and Celta Vigo. They subsequently lost 3-0 to Atletico Madrid.

Their start of one point from five games was extremely challenging, but they have shown indications of improvement in their previous two games, winning 2-0 against Girona and drawing 0-0 against Osasuna.

Since Ruben Baraja's team isn't playing in Europe this year, they are concentrating solely on the league, and a win in this match will set them up beautifully for their next matchup with Leganes before the October international break.

Valencia has only triumphed in one of their previous seven matches in the top level against Real Sociedad, having lost both of their league games against them in the previous campaign.

In the latter third of the field, Mikel Oyarzabal is anticipated to join Oskarsson, while Benat Turrientes is probably going to have a role in the middle of midfield.

Major shocks are not anticipated from the Valencia team, while Javi Guerra's return is expected to cause a change in the central midfield.

Hugo Duro, who has already scored twice this season, made his injury comeback against Osasuna by coming off the bench. It is now anticipated that the forward will be added to the starting lineup.
