Real Betis will bring their 2024-25 La Liga season to a close this Friday as they host Valencia at the Benito Villamarín. The Andalusian side has already secured sixth place in the table, ensuring Europa League qualification for next season, while Valencia enter the final matchday in 12th position.

Despite a promising campaign, Betis saw their hopes of a top-five finish and Champions League qualification fade in recent weeks. A pair of draws against Osasuna and Rayo Vallecano, followed by a crushing 4-1 loss to Atlético Madrid, dashed their late push for European football’s elite competition.

Nevertheless, Manuel Pellegrini’s squad can take pride in another consistent season, having now clinched a top-six La Liga finish in four of the last five years. While their domestic journey ends on Friday, all eyes now turn to next week’s historic UEFA Conference League final in Poland, where Betis will face Chelsea in pursuit of their first-ever European trophy—a chance to cap the season with silverware.

Real Betis' last league match has been rescheduled to Friday evening, granting them an additional 48 hours to prepare compared to their Premier League rivals, a decision that has frustrated Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who expressed his dissatisfaction with the arrangement.

Los Verdiblancos are likely optimistic about gaining momentum before their crucial match in Poland, having secured victories in three of their last five home La Liga games against Valencia (with two draws), including a dominant 3-0 win at the Benito Villamarin last season.

Valencia's hopes of qualifying for European competitions have been dashed after consecutive losses eliminated their chances of a top-eight finish. Their impressive 10-game unbeaten streak came to an end with a 1-0 defeat to Alaves, followed by another 1-0 loss to Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, courtesy of a second-half goal from Gorka Guruzeta.

Despite these setbacks, Carlos Corberan has worked wonders since taking charge at the beginning of 2025, transforming a Valencia side that was four points from safety into a team now comfortably sitting in 12th place. With 45 points from 37 matches, Valencia trail Real Sociedad in 11th by one point and Mallorca in 10th by two, keeping a top-half finish within reach for the third time in four years.

Los Che aim to secure a league double over Real Betis after a convincing 4-2 win in their November home game, powered by Hugo Duro’s brace and goals from Cesar Tarrega and Diego Lopez. To complete the double, Valencia will need to overcome Betis at the Benito Villamarin in La Liga for the first time since a narrow 2-1 victory in April 2019.
