Rangers will host top-six contender Aberdeen at Ibrox Stadium on Tuesday night in the Scottish Premiership in an attempt to get closer to division leaders Celtic.

Last time out, the Gers defeated Livingston with ease, while the Dons forced the league leaders to split the point total.

Rangers has won four straight games in both the Scottish Premiership and the Scottish Cup since returning from a two-week vacation in January. On Saturday afternoon, in front of around 50,000 fans at Ibrox, the Gers easily defeated Livingston, a team that plays in the basement.

Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee Fabio Silva gave the Gers the lead after forty minutes of play. Rabbi Matondo added another goal just before halftime, and former Norwich City player Todd Cantwell completed the scoring with a third goal in the second half.

Rangers earned a well-earned three points and closed the gap on top-ranked Celtic after keeping David Martindale's team from scoring for the duration of the ninety minutes. This was Brendan Rodgers' team's first point loss since 2024.

After some difficult times under Michael Beale's leadership, Philippe Clement was given the challenge of leading the Gers back to their previous glory. With an 82% victory rate over 22 competitive games played so far, the 49-year-old Belgian has only lost once.

Abdallah Sima, a Brighton & Hove Albion loanee, and James Tavernier top the Golden Boot race at Ibrox right now with 10 Premiership goals each in 2023–24; the only other player to score more than four goals for Tuesday's hosts is Cyriel Dessers.

On Saturday afternoon, Aberdeen made a positive start to life without Barry Robson by drawing a point from a match against league leaders Celtic at Pittodrie Stadium. The Hoops' goal came from substitute Nicolas Kuhn in the 63rd minute, after Bojan Miovski had opened the scoring for the hosts.

The Dons are hoping to have a permanent face in the dugout before they foot onto the Ibrox grass on Tuesday night, with former Huddersfield Town and Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock reported to be a likely arrival. Craig Samson, the interim manager, is in charge of monitoring the split of the spoils with Celtic.

Aberdeen is lagging behind sixth-place Dundee, who added Michael Mellon to their roster in January, by one point in the Scottish Premiership rankings this season. Last season, Aberdeen finished high enough in the league to secure participation in the Europa Conference League.

With the 24-year-old scoring 12 of the team's 25 top-tier goals thus far, the Dons' over-reliance on the North Macedonia international has been a major problem this season. The only other member of the squad with more than two league goals is midfielder Jamie McGrath.
