On Thursday night, Qarabag FK will want to finish off Braga in the second leg of their Europa League playoff match, leading by two goals.

In the first meeting of the competition last week, the Azerbaijani team triumphed 4–2, placing them in a solid position to move further.

Qarabag finished second in their Europa League group, eight points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen, after winning the Azerbaijani Premier League the previous season and defeating HJK Helsinki and Olimpija Ljubljana in qualification.

As a result of finishing second, Gurban Gurbanov's team had to contend with Braga, a Portuguese team, in the playoff round.

They are poised to advance to the next round after winning 4–2 in the away leg in Portugal. The Azerbaijani team took the lead thanks to a penalty scored by Marko Jankovic, but Simon Banza of Braga pulled one back right before the interval.

After that, Qarabag controlled a 15-minute stretch in the second half, scoring three goals thanks to a brace from Abdellah Zoubir and a goal from Juninho. But in stoppage time, Joao Moutinho gave the Portuguese team a response from the spot.

After a week of relaxation following the first leg, Gurbanov's squad is ready to round up the task on Thursday.This season, Braga's defense has disappointed them down despite their strong assault.

The Archbishops, who have the third-highest scoring record in the division, have let up the most goals of any of the top nine teams in the Portuguese league.

They finished third ahead of Union Berlin in their Champions League group, although they surrendered the most goals (12). This tendency persisted.

After conceding four goals against Qarabag, they have now surrendered 10 goals in their past three games after losing to Sporting Lisbon 5-0 and defeating Farense 2-1 last weekend.

In order to overcome a two-goal disadvantage and preserve their hopes of qualifying for Europe, Artur Jorge must find a solution to these defensive shortcomings.
