Maccabi Tel Aviv vs. Panathinaikos: Analysis and Prediction In the fifth game of the EuroLeague playoff quarterfinal, Panathinaikos will host Maccabi Tel Aviv.

In Belgrade, Panathinaikos defeated Maccabi Tel Aviv 95:88 to even the series at 2-2 and avoid elimination. Kendrick Nunn with 27 points and Kostas Sloukas with 20 were the most deserving of it. Ergin Ataman's side is hard-pressed to lose when this combination is playing so well.

Because of their strong defense, the Greek team was able to take advantage of Wade Baldwin, who was not as prepared, and establish a shooting rhythm. It is certain that Kostas Sloukas is Panathinaikos' main motivator and that things would not be the same without him, but it is also evident that the "x factors," or players who come off the bench, determine the outcome of the series. At the moment, Ioannis Papapetrou is just that. He was the player who deserved the victory the most in the second game, after Sloukas, having scored eight crucial points in the first.

After losing their last match, Maccabi Tel Aviv was unable to advance to the Final Four, which was held at home in Belgrade. With 17 points, Lorenzo Brown led the most productive player in that match, followed by Bonzie Colson with 14 and Tamir Blatt with 17.

Maccabi Tel Aviv looked to be well on their way to the next round after their impressive performance in the first two games in Athens. But that didn't happen, and this squad also lost Wade Baldwin, who attempted to play but clearly wasn't prepared for the fourth game. Maybe forcing their best player on Maccabi Tel Aviv paid off, even though a dismal shooting % was a major factor. Just nine of the 34 shots made by Oded Kattash's side were accurate, which is insufficient to defeat Panathinaikos.

Wade Baldwin's absence and the support of the home crowd will be the two main determinants of whether Panathinaikos advances to the next round of competition and participates in the Final Four. We predict that Ergin Ataman's squad will profit from that and win by a bigger margin than the spread that is being given.
