When the Chicago Bulls host the New York Knicks in the NBA on Sunday, the United Center will come alive. The Knicks (24-11) are in third place in the Eastern Conference, while the Bulls (15-19) are in tenth place. See our prediction for the match below.

The Chicago Bulls have been a mixed bag lately, splitting their previous ten games, the most recent of which ended in a devastating road loss to the Washington Wizards, 125-107.

The team's top scorer, Zach LaVine, scored 32 points. Chicago was outscored 70-53 after collapsing in the second half despite shooting 44% and making 14 of 47 from beyond the arc.

With an average of 117.2 points per game, the Bulls remain one of the league's top offenses, but their defense is the second-worst, giving up 121.1 points per game.

The New York Knicks, meantime, are having a great run of play right now, but they will be hoping to get back on track after losing to the Thunder 117-107 last night, their first loss in the previous ten games.

OG Anunoby, Jalen Brunson, and Mikal Bridges all scored more than twenty points, but they collapsed in the last quarter and were defeated 37–19.

With an average of 117.6 points per game (fifth overall) and an opponent scoring 109.9 points per game (eighth in the NBA), the Knicks are in the top 10 on both ends of the scoring spectrum this season.

The New York Knicks performed two games in Washington games last week they performed. Both of those games they were 13-point favorites but New York had recently been even in the second half of a back-to-back prior to that first game versus Washington.

Now this should be emphasized: The Knicks did not overwork their starters the night before against the Magic, with only Mikal Bridges playing more than 40 minutes.

For Tom Thibodeau that was prudent prior to their two games series with Washington DC.

Perhaps had it not been for the scheduling quagmire, New York should have been a 14-point favorite at Washington, hence we have our answer. The next Wizards’ match was against the Chicago Bulls with Chicago being favorites to win the match on their home ground by six points.

If we compare those two last lines we can reason that the oddsmakers think that the Knicks are eight better than the Bulls. Imbue this with today and tonight’s home advantage, and Chicago should probably be around a six-point underdog at best or +5.5.

That rather plain logic did not yet factor in New York’s efforts last night at Oklahoma City, losing 117-107, undone in the final minutes and in the overall fourth quarter, lost the final frame 37-19. We all realize that Tom Thibodeau is not going to switch up his style any time soon, but perhaps that fourth quarter could have went a lot smoother had his players not been so exhausted.

That bench is going to have to play more tonight, but Thibodeau will still overwork his starters. To be as awful as we are this year as a Chicago team, which is in the battle for the last play-in game as we speak near the mid-point of the year, New York should be tired.
