The Knicks skyrocketed to capture their first group win in this year’s NBA Cup yesterday defeating Philadelphia 76ers with 111-99. The win was not without its price, as star point guard Jalen Brunson rolled his ankle at the beginning of the second period. Brunson did return to the game, but his availability for tonight’s game on the second night of a back to back is still in doubt.

Brunson scored only 18 points last night but his teammates did well also with Towns and Hart. Towns scored 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and he should be able to feast on a Bulls team that is 28th in the league in scoring defense. Towns is averaging 30points in the his last two match up with the Bulls while Chicago has been conceding nearly 50points to centers and powerforwards.

Hart got a double-double prior to this season with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists against Philadelphia. He may well be in a position to replicate another stufills up tonight. The Bulls are 28th in assists allowed for the league. They are also giving up the 21st and 23rd best shooting guard and small forwards respectively in rebounds and have the 24th worse assist to small forwards ratio.

The Bulls played on Monday night and so they will come to tonight’s game fresher as compared their opposition. But they are still 8.5-point underdogs and if they are going to hang around or pull off the upset, they will need Zach LaVine, who is probable for tonight’s game. Entering tonight’s game LaVine is averaging 22.5 pts per game while shooting 52% from the field and 41% from the three point line.

In seven of the eight games this season, LaVine has scored at least eighteen points. He has scored 18 points in six of his last seven games against the Knicks, demonstrating his recent success against them. A shooter of LaVine's level will have more opportunities because the Knicks rank 26th in terms of 3-pointers allowed per game.

After splitting their first ten games, the Knicks have had a mixed start to the season. Last night, they defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 111-99.

Karl-Anthony Towns had another outstanding game, scoring 21 points, grabbing 13 rebounds, and dishing out six assists, while OG Anunoby scored 24 points on 11 of 16 shots.

Despite their superior defense, which presently ranks seventh and allows 110.0 points per game, New York is now 14th in the scoring statistics with 114.1 points per game.

The Chicago Bulls, meantime, have started to lose steam after a strong start to the season. They lost 119-113 to the Cavaliers on Tuesday morning, their fifth loss in six games.

With 26 points, Zach LaVine led the club and kept them in the game until the Cavaliers embarked on a 9-0 run in the fourth quarter to take control and never look back.

This season, the Bulls are averaging 114.6 points per game, which puts them in 12th place on the scoring statistics. However, they are giving up 120.2 points per game, which puts them in 27th place in the league.
