Morocco will look to extend their dominant start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers when they take on Tanzania at Stade Municipal on Tuesday.

The Atlas Lions currently lead Group E with a flawless record from four matches, while Tanzania sits six points behind in third place.

Morocco kept their winning streak alive with a hard-earned 2-1 away victory over Niger, though the match proved more challenging than expected.

After a goalless first half—which saw Morocco hit the woodwork—Niger stunned the visitors by taking the lead just two minutes into the second half, with Youssouf Oumarou pouncing on a loose ball from a free-kick.

However, PSV’s Ismael Saibari leveled the score 12 minutes later with a calm finish at the back post, before Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss sealed the win with a stoppage-time header.

The result extends Morocco’s unbeaten streak to 11 matches across all competitions, including nine straight wins. They have been in ruthless form, netting 22 goals in their last five games while conceding only twice.

Next, Walid Regragui’s side will host Tanzania, a team they have historically dominated—winning five of their six previous meetings and suffering just one defeat.

Tanzania, meanwhile, were scheduled to play Congo on March 17, but the match was canceled after FIFA suspended the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFOOT) due to government interference.

As a result, Congo forfeited their remaining qualifiers, leaving Tanzania tied on six points with second-placed Niger, though the Taifa Stars have played one fewer game.

Tanzania will see a successful outcome in Morocco as a significant boost to their qualifying ambitions, since the competition for second place in Group E is still quite open with the four top runners-up moving on to the play-off stage.

Brahim Diaz is anticipated to be the main creative force once more in the absence of the injured Hakim Ziyech after playing a crucial part in both of Morocco's goals against Niger.

Hemed Suleiman, the head coach of Tanzania, has selected a 24-man team for the journey to Morocco, including call-ups for midfielder Yakoub Suleiman and defender Miraji Abdallah.
