Empoli, languishing in second-to-last place, head to face relegated Monza, aware that their Serie A fate hangs in the balance as they could either climb out of the relegation zone or slide closer to demotion by the end of gameweek 37.

The Azzurri Empolesi approach the round 37 showdown at U-Power Stadium knowing that a win could propel them to 17th place by the penultimate matchday, provided they claim a sixth league victory and other results go their way.

Eager to claim a third straight home win over Empoli, Alessandro Nesta’s side, free from relegation concerns, aim to dent the Azzurri Empolesi’s chances of staying in the top flight.

Empoli, like their hosts, recently broke a long winless streak in the previous round, with a 2-1 home victory over Parma halting a 20-match top-flight drought since their last win against Hellas Verona in December.

That success marked their most recent away triumph, and Roberto D’Aversa’s squad could add to their three road wins this season, potentially securing their first away victory of 2025, boosting their morale in the relegation fight heading into the final matchday.

Currently second-bottom, Empoli are level on points with 18th-placed Lecce and one point behind Venezia in 17th.

With Lecce facing Torino at home and Venezia traveling to Cagliari—both opponents higher in the standings—a win for Empoli could see them escape the bottom three if their relegation rivals stumble.

On the other hand, D’Aversa’s team risks falling further behind if they cannot secure consecutive league victories, something they haven’t achieved since May 2023, when they defeated Bologna (3-1) and Salernitana (2-1).
