With a chance to clinch their NBA Finals berth, the Oklahoma City Thunder face off against the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Paycom Center on Wednesday night.

A narrow two-point loss on Monday left the Timberwolves trailing 3-1 in the series, dealing a significant setback to their hopes of reaching their first-ever NBA Finals.

The Thunder rebounded from a 42-point rout in Game 3, edging out a 128-126 win over the Timberwolves on Monday to move one victory away from the NBA Finals.

NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander delivered a stellar performance, scoring a game-high 40 points on 13-of-30 shooting, dishing out 10 assists, and falling just one rebound short of a triple-double in the playoffs at the Target Center.

Gilgeous-Alexander was joined by three other Thunder players in double digits: Chet Holmgren (21 points), Alex Caruso (10 points), and Jalen Williams, who recovered from a poor Game 3 to contribute 34 points on 54% shooting.

Having swept past the Memphis Grizzlies and Denver Nuggets in earlier rounds, Mark Daigneault’s squad is on the verge of their first NBA Finals appearance since 2012, leading the Western Conference Finals 3-1.

The Thunder are confident heading into Wednesday’s game at the Paycom Center, where they’ve won five straight games and boast a 7-1 record in their eight playoff home games.

Trailing 3-1, the Timberwolves face a do-or-die situation starting Wednesday to keep their dream of a maiden NBA Finals appearance alive.

Despite outshining the Thunder in field goal percentage, three-point shooting, rebounds, and assists, Chris Finch’s team trailed for most of the game, holding a brief two-point lead in the first quarter.

Anthony Edwards struggled to find his rhythm at the Target Center, shooting 5-of-13 for 16 points, while Nickeil Alexander-Walker led the team with 23 points off the bench.

Wednesday’s game is critical for the Timberwolves, who face an uphill battle, having lost the first two games of the series at the Paycom Center and dropping three of their four road games since the start of the year.
