Looking to salvage some pride on the domestic front before the season ends, Manchester United host West Ham United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon in Premier League action.

The Red Devils head into this clash on a high after booking their place in the Europa League final on Thursday night, while West Ham have had the full week to prepare following their draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

After establishing a commanding lead in the first leg against Athletic Bilbao at San Mames, United were expected to progress, and they did so emphatically—crushing the Spanish side 4-1 at home to seal a dominant 7-1 aggregate win. They now face Tottenham in the final, with both teams chasing Champions League qualification despite disappointing league campaigns.

In the Premier League, however, United have hit a rough patch. A thrilling 4-3 defeat to Brentford last Sunday extended their winless streak in the competition to six matches. They've managed only two points from those games and currently sit a lowly 15th in the table, still short of the 40-point safety mark with just three fixtures left.

One bright spark has been Mason Mount, who finally opened his Old Trafford account with goals in the rout of Bilbao. The former Chelsea man now has three goals in two games and hopes to end the campaign with silverware.

As for West Ham, their fall has been sharp since the departure of David Moyes. Despite lifting the Europa Conference League trophy in 2023, the Hammers are now heading for their worst league finish since the 2010–11 campaign. Fortunately, the struggles of this season’s promoted teams have spared them from a relegation fight, with Graham Potter’s men 15 points clear of the drop zone and only nine left to play for.

West Ham extended their winless Premier League run to eight games last weekend but held their own in a 1-1 draw against Spurs. Jarrod Bowen struck back after Wilson Odobert's early goal, taking his tally to 10 league goals and boosting his hopes of a call-up for the 2026 World Cup.

Still, the Hammers have a poor recent record at Old Trafford, losing on each of their last four visits in all competitions. Their last win at the ground came in September 2021, when Manuel Lanzini’s lone strike secured a narrow EFL Cup triumph.
