Lecce vs Roma

Roma plans to extend their series of seven consecutive Serie A victories by facing lower-ranked Lecce at Stadio Via del Mare during Saturday evening.

The Serie A battle among Giallorossi clubs sees Roma vying for top-four status and Lecce fighting to stay out of the bottom place after four successive losses.

Roma achieved a 1-0 victory over Cagliari in their recent match before the final international break at Stadio Olimpico through Artem Dovbyk's goal in the second half.

Since Claudio Ranieri took over in an interim capacity, striker Artem Dovbyk significantly improved his Serie A goals per minute ratio from 239 minutes to 159 minutes and delivered both his first assists of the season during this period.

Under Claudio Ranieri the team managed to reverse its fortunes by earning 29 points this season through nine victories and two draws from their 11 league matches.

The team stands atop all top five European leagues when measuring league victories during this calendar year and Paris Saint-Germain remains the only exception to this trend.

Their six consecutive Serie A wins sets a new benchmark for the club which has brought them closer to Bologna as well as Juventus and Lazio yet Fiorentina and AC Milan are now trailing behind them.

The current form will allow Roma to compete actively in Ranieri's final games before the club designates a new permanent manager for summer.

They have won all four of their away games in the Italian top division, putting them back in the running for a top-four finish. Now, they will go to one of their favorite opponents.

Lecce has only won two of 37 Serie A encounters with Roma, losing on at least 25 occasions, including suffering a 4-1 loss in the capital city earlier this season.

In addition to the fact that history will be against them on Saturday night, the hosts enter this important match in the midst of a poor run of play, which contrasts sharply with the success their fellow Giallorossi are experiencing.

Marco Giampaolo's team needs points to help them in their most recent battle to stay in the top flight. They have lost two of their past six games, including a 2-1 loss to Genoa right before the international break, which dropped them to 17th place in the standings.

A further loss would be Giampaolo's first five-game losing streak, and the Salentini have already tied their longest losing streak since a run of six straight losses from February to April 2023.

Stopping in-form Roma is a very difficult challenge because they haven't won at home in 2025 and no Serie A team has scored less goals as hosts this year than two.
