Serie A powerhouse Juventus takes on Torino on Saturday night in an effort to maintain their long-standing hold on the Derby della Mole.

Juve has won 14 of its past 18 Turin derbies overall and is now five points ahead of Granata in the Serie A rankings going into this week's match.

Juventus fought through a dull goalless draw with fellow top-four candidates Atalanta BC last weekend, keeping their second consecutive clean sheet. This put them four points behind both Milan clubs, who are currently leading Serie A after seven rounds.

The Bianconeri were indebted to a spectacular Wojciech Szczesny save for salvaging a point in Bergamo, where their makeshift strikeforce failed to gel and hardly made an impression on La Dea's defense, a week after defeating early-season surprise package Lecce 1-0.

Due to injuries to Dusan Vlahovic and Arkadiusz Milik, Federico Chiesa and Moise Kean were paired up front for Juventus. Despite their struggles in the final third, Juve still has an exceptional defensive record to fall back on.

Juventus is joint-top of the shut-out standings following Max Allegri's return to the team in August 2021, having preserved seven clean sheets in their previous 12 league games dating back to last season: 37 is a total only surpassed by Napoli.

Massimiliano Allegri faced the challenge of fielding an unconventional attack due to the standards set this season. Moise Kean partnered with Federico Chiesa initially, but there's a possibility that Arkadiusz Milik might replace Chiesa. Dusan Vlahovic and Chiesa are uncertain due to injury, but if they pass their assessments, they could be included on the bench.

Allegri is hoping to have at least one of these forwards fit and in form before the weekend, especially after the international break. Meanwhile, Alex Sandro and Mattia De Sciglio are still sidelined due to injuries, and Paul Pogba remains ineligible due to his ongoing doping case.

Ivan Juric had hoped to field his strongest lineup against Juventus, but his team continues to be plagued by injuries. Torino might be without up to eight players for the derby match. Among the absentees, Torino will depend on former Atalanta player Zapata to score goals and lead the attack.

Highly sought-after defender Perr Schuurs will anchor the defensive backline, with Adrien Tameze and Ricardo Rodriguez alongside him. Raoul Bellanova and Valentino Lazaro are expected to retain their positions on the wings, while Samuele Ricci and Ivan Ilic will form a midfield double pivot between them.

With Zapata likely leading the attack, Torino will rely on the duo of Yann Karamoh and Nikola Vlasic to provide support for their striker. Given the injuries and absent players, Juric will depend heavily on his starting eleven to perform, as his options on the bench appear limited at the moment.

Milik, who scored the winning goal against Lecce last week but missed the Atalanta game, showcased the team's lack of experience up front. While Kean is a good fit, he struggles without a strong target man, and Milik could potentially fill that role. Allegri needs to reintegrate Milik into the lineup, especially since his other two key forwards might be unavailable. These are the kind of games where Milik must step up and make the most of his opportunities as a striker to prove his clinical ability.

Even though the game wasn't very exciting, Allegri is still committed to returning Juventus to their previous glory and, possibly, getting them back into the Scudetto race after two years marred by controversy.

The Bianconeri will shortly face one of their biggest opponents in that regard during a trip to Milan just before the international break, but first they must handle more local issues.

Juve has three victories, one draw, and at least one goal in each of its past four games, thus another win for Turin's dominant club is anticipated at the Allianz Stadium for the most recent Derby della Mole.

Juventus, who will face Torino this upcoming weekend, are in a dire need of a victory to join the teams at the top of the Serie A standings. In their last match against Atalanta, they were unable to breach the opposing defense but relied on goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny to keep the score level and share the points.

This result dropped Juventus to fourth place in the standings, missing an opportunity to maintain pressure on the Milan clubs. Their draw with Atalanta followed a recent victory over early-season surprise Lecce.

Nevertheless, Juventus boasts an impressive record in the Derby della Mole against Torino, currently enjoying an 18-game unbeaten streak against their Turin rivals. They also hold a five-point lead in the table over Torino, a gap that Massimiliano Allegri's team aims to widen by the end of the weekend.

Speaking of head-to-head records, Torino not only has the most losses against Juventus in Serie A but has also conceded the most goals to the Bianconeri in their league history. In fact, Torino has managed only one victory in 34 attempts against their counterparts.

Although this fixture has often produced predictable outcomes over the decades, Torino is determined not to back down. A victory against Juventus would boost their confidence significantly and help them climb the table in pursuit of their ambitious goals.

Similarly, Torino experienced a goalless draw in their most recent weekend match against Hellas Verona. Their offensive struggles have been evident, with the team failing to score in three of their seven games and their last goal coming from Duvan Zapata against AS Roma two weeks ago.
