As they take on mid-table Monza on Saturday, Serie A heavyweights Juventus, who are wrapping off another challenging season in Turin, can only finish third at best.

Despite winning the Coppa Italia recently and qualifying for the Champions League the following season, Juventus' league campaign has faltered significantly, leading to the firing of former manager Max Allegri.

Following the public outburst following their cup final breakdown and the dramatic dismissal of one of their most successful managers, Juventus requested former defender Paolo Montero to take over as the team's primavera and steer clear of trouble.

Despite guiding Juve to victory in Rome, where they defeated Atalanta BC 1-0 to secure the Coppa for the 15th time, Allegri's abrupt departure left the Bianconeri without a manager at the close of yet another turbulent season.

In the early months of 2024, Juventus were in pursuit of eventual champions Inter Milan. However, their fortunes took a nosedive after February, as they struggled to secure victories, managing only two wins out of 15 league games during Allegri's less successful second tenure, with the remaining matches ending in draws.

In their recent encounter with Bologna, Juventus faced Thiago Motta, the likely successor to Allegri. Both teams were vying for third place, locked together on points. Despite initially falling behind by three goals at Stadio Dall'Ara, Montero's side displayed resilience and managed to claw their way back, securing a late equalizer through Kenan Yildiz.

Throughout their Serie A history, Juventus have experienced a run of seven consecutive draws only once before, which occurred between March and April 1971. To stand a chance of overtaking Bologna in the standings, they must ideally avoid replicating that streak on Saturday.

Monza left a strong impression by defeating Juventus twice last season, although they suffered a loss in their most recent encounter in December, with both teams scoring during stoppage time in Juventus' 2-1 victory.

Similar to their opponents, Monza has faced challenges in the concluding stages of the 2023-24 season, which marks only their second season in Serie A's top tier.

Their recent 1-0 defeat at home against relegation-threatened Frosinone adds to their struggles, making them one of the two teams without a win in their last eight Serie A matches. They've managed three draws and suffered five defeats during this period.

While they cannot finish lower than 12th and still have a chance to surpass Genoa in 11th place if results favor them on the final matchday, there's a prevailing sense of disappointment, considering their initial prospects of achieving a top-half finish.

Despite being a former winger for Juventus, Raffaele Palladino has assembled a competitive squad for Monza, who will soon embark on another Serie A season. Securing a victory at the Allianz Stadium would undoubtedly brighten their season.

Following his return from a betting ban against Bologna, Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli is back in action. However, Mattia De Sciglio and wing-back Andrea Cambiaso will be absent for Saturday's game. De Sciglio is still recovering from a thigh issue, while Cambiaso is serving a suspension.

Timothy Weah is likely to take Cambiaso's place on the right side, with Filip Kostic and English winger Samuel Iling-Junior competing for the spot on the left flank.

Despite battling injuries throughout the season, Federico Chiesa, who played a crucial role in Juve's recent comeback, is on the verge of achieving a personal milestone. He has scored eight goals in Serie A this season and needs just one more to surpass his previous best tally.

Although Dusan Vlahovic marked his 100th appearance for Juventus in the last game, both he and Chiesa could be replaced by Arkadiusz Milik and Kenan Yildiz in the upcoming match if interim coach Paolo Montero decides to shake things up for the season finale.

While Juventus boasts a wealth of attacking talent, Monza has struggled to score goals consistently. Veteran forward Milan Djuric is expected to lead Monza's frontline in Turin.

Djuric aims to join a select group of players in Serie A history who have scored at least five goals for two different clubs in the same season. Alongside his four goals for Monza, Djuric netted five for Hellas Verona before transferring in January.

Juventus, who won the Coppa Italia after a close victory over Atalanta, will play Monza in their league finale. Juventus has had a difficult season under Massimiliano Allegri, and they will split ways following the season's end.

Even though they have shown resiliency by winning just a few of their past 16 Serie A games, they still want to end the season on a high note. Their recent performance, which includes a tie in five straight games, points to a club that struggles with consistency.

Monza is comfortably in the middle of the league as they make their way through their first Serie A season without the late Silvio Berlusconi's leadership. The squad wants to contend for European qualifying the following season, but as of late, they have lost eight straight games. This puts pressure on manager Raffaele Palladino to lead a comeback.
