When the Houston Rockets take on the Utah Jazz on the road next, they hope to continue their current NBA winning streak. In the Western Conference, Houston is ranked eleventh, one spot above of Utah, but more than ten games ahead of their hosts. The Jazz have not won in their last seven games, which is the longest streak they have had this year. With nine games remaining, they are now fighting for dignity after being disqualified from postseason contention.

San Antonio, another struggling West team, upset Will Hardy's team 118-111 at home in their most recent game. Their record dropped to 29–44 as a result. Lauri Markkanen, who finished the game with 25 points, is still listed as injured for the club because of a shoulder problem. Johnny Juzang's status is uncertain, and Jordan Clarkson is still out. Over their previous three games, the Jazz have averaged 111.7 points per game.

For the past two weeks or so, the Rockets have been the greatest NBA team. The team led by Ime Udoka has won its past ten games. Their current victory streak is the second longest of the season and the longest in the campaign. If they win here, they would have tied the Celtics' previous record for the longest winning streak this season. They're back in the postseason picture thanks to their incredible run. The Rockets are only one game off of the play-in spots with ten games remaining.

In one week, the Warriors—who now occupy the final play-in spot—will take on Houston. They need to win their next three games in order for this game to matter. On paper, the matchup against the Jazz is the easier because they have games in Minnesota and Dallas after this trip. The last time out, Houston upset the Thunder 132-126 in overtime. They now have a 37-35 record after the road victory. Additionally, it was the sixth time in their winning run that they had scored more than 120 points. They defeated the Jazz 147-119 at home in one of those high-scoring games, giving them a 2-0 lead in the series. Alpren Sengun and Cam Whitmore are still injured and won't play in this game.

Two very different sides will face off in this encounter. The Rockets are winning, while the Jazz are struggling. Utah will make every effort to end their losing streak, but it will be difficult. They will be facing the NBA's most successful team right now. The Jazz's two primary offensive players, Jordan Clarkson and Lauri Markkanen, are also probably going to be sidelined once more.
