At the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup, Jamaica and Guadeloupe, both seeking their first points, will clash on Friday at PayPal Park in San Jose.

The Reggae Boyz fell 1-0 to Guatemala in their opening match, while Guadeloupe endured a 5-2 thrashing by 2023 finalists Panama.

After dominating Guatemala 3-0 in World Cup qualifying, Jamaica struggled to break through the same defense in their Gold Cup opener, managing just two shots on target and ending their three-game unbeaten streak in the tournament’s group stage.

Under Steve McClaren, Jamaica have been solid against CONCACAF teams, securing positive results in seven of their last eight matches, with only one game without a goal.

Jamaica haven’t dropped consecutive Gold Cup matches since 2009, when they lost their first two group games 1-0. They remain unbeaten in their last four tournament matches when scoring first but have lost their last four when conceding the opener.

Friday marks the sixth encounter between Jamaica and Guadeloupe, with the Reggae Boyz winning the previous four.

Guadeloupe’s sluggish start in their opener proved costly, trailing by four goals before the 30-minute mark, ending their five-game unbeaten run across all competitions.

Jocelyn Angloma’s squad conceded more goals in that single match than in their previous 11 games combined (four). They haven’t lost back-to-back Gold Cup matches since 2021, when they dropped all three group games.

Guadeloupe have won their last eight matches when scoring first but have lost every game this decade when conceding the opener. Against Caribbean teams, they’re unbeaten in their last three matches, keeping clean sheets in each.
