Inter Milan are currently in excellent form leading up to their game against AS Roma this weekend. They reclaimed the top position in the league table with a convincing 3-0 victory over Torino last Saturday, despite a shaky start.

In the midweek, they continued their impressive run in the UEFA Champions League by defeating Red Bull Salzburg 3-0 on Tuesday, securing the second spot in Group D with seven points out of nine.

Inter Milan has lost just one game this season, and they even celebrated a resounding 5-1 victory over city rivals AC Milan. They are now focused on maintaining their position at the top of the Serie A by achieving a positive result against AS Roma this weekend.

On the other hand, AS Roma had a tough start to the 2023/24 season, winning only one of their first six league matches (with two draws and three losses). Nevertheless, they have made an impressive comeback, winning their last five games across all competitions with a combined score of 13-1. This includes a 2-0 victory against Slavia Prague in the Europa League on Thursday, maintaining a perfect record in Group G with three wins out of three.

While AS Roma is riding a wave of winning momentum, they are currently in seventh place in Serie A with 14 points after nine rounds, which is three points behind fourth-placed Napoli. Their most recent league win came from a late strike by Stephan El Shaarawy against AC Monza. However, they will face a tough test against the league leaders, Inter Milan.

AS Roma's recent resurgence has given their supporters a reason to feel positive. However, their head coach, Jose Mourinho, will not be present on the sideline this Sunday due to a one-match ban resulting from his behavior at the end of the match against Monza. The Giallorossi secured a late victory, but Mourinho was dismissed for mocking the opposing team's coach.

Despite Renato Sanches and Chris Smalling returning to training and hoping to play after being sidelined with injuries for several weeks, the Stadio Olimpico still has a lengthy list of injured players. It appears that this match will come too soon for the return of key players such as Lorenzo Pellegrini and Paulo Dybala, along with the long-term absentees Marash Kumbulla and Tammy Abraham.

Evan Ndicka was substituted in the Sunday win over Monza due to an injury but is likely to start this game, which would result in Bryan Cristante being positioned in midfield alongside Leandro Paredes and Houssem Aouar.

Despite Portuguese goalkeeper Rui Patricio's struggles, he will remain in goal for Roma due to a lack of alternatives. The Giallorossi possess the second-best attacking record in the league, having scored 20 goals, and will aim to pose a significant threat to Inter.

Romelu Lukaku, who has netted eight goals in all competitions since his loan move from Chelsea this summer, will make a noteworthy return to San Siro on Sunday evening, leading Mourinho's offensive efforts. Italy international Stephen El Shaarawy may have the opportunity to partner with the Belgian striker upfront, following his impressive performance last weekend.

AS Roma has been erratic so far this season and is now sitting in seventh position in the Serie A standings. The away team easily defeated Slavia Praha 2-0 in their previous meeting, and they'll aim for a repeat performance this weekend.

However, Inter Milan, who have been playing well this season, are currently leading the league table. The Nerazzurri will be optimistic going into this match after defeating RB Salzburg 2-1 in the UEFA Champions League this week.
