Rangers will rely on their excellent 3-0 win in the Old Firm Derby as they prepare for their Scottish Premiership clash against a vibrant Hibernian at Easter Road Stadium on Sunday.

The visitors are second in the table with 39 points from the first nineteen matches of the campaign, while the hosts are seventh in the standings with twenty five points from twenty one matches.

The rangers’ fortunes have exactly been an unsmooth sail on the watery and nebulous landscape of Scottish Premiership in the 2024-25 football season till now, worst of all, the team has set off on the worst possible start seen in a campaign since Rangers’first season back at the top tier in 2016-17.

By then they could only manage 7 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses in their 12 matches played and they were way behind Celtic in the league table, however they got back to winning ways, winning four successive matches, literally reducing the difference.

After that Rangers suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to St Mirren and 2-2 draw with Motherwell many have feared that Rangers are regressing to poor form they showed in the beginning of season but a stunning 3-0 victory against Celtic has put those fears to rest.

The victory meant that the Gers inflicted the first domestic defeat of the season on their rivals, while the margin is reduced to 11 points and, of course, the confidence rises around the Ibrox.

For the moment on the other hand Highbury has a season’s long victory memory of more than just making up for last year which they are now seeking to ride on to start chipping away at Celtic’s lead at the top of the league and with Phillipe Clement most likely taking on the most in-form team in the divisionn.

Hibernian were only outside the top six places in the Scottish Premiership last season finishing on the 7 th position in the pre split table and two points from the top half and they remain optimistic of attaining a better position this season.

Hibs, however, had a terrible start to the season, winning just one of their first 14 league games and suffering seven defeats and six draws, which put them squarely in the fight against relegation.

However, in recent weeks, their fortunes have drastically altered, with Hibernian moving up to seventh place after five victories, one draw, and one loss in their previous seven games.

With four victories and one draw in their last five games, David Gray's team is actually the most successful in the league going into this match. They will be looking to retain that record with another victory today.

Due to persistent injury worries, Kieron Bowie (hamstring), Marvin Ekpiteta (thigh), and Mykola Kukharevych (groin) are anticipated to miss this game for the home team.

Gray may decide to select a similar team for this game in an attempt to maintain their recent success, as they have had a markedly better run of outcomes.

Due to a number of injury concerns, Jack Butland, James Tavernier, Jack Souttar, Neraysho Kasanwirjo, and Tom Lawrence are not expected to play for the visitors.

Following their impressive 3-0 victory over rivals Celtic in their most recent game, Clement is anticipated to start with the same lineup in this one.
