On Saturday evening, two struggling teams in Serie A will clash as Hellas Verona hosts Cagliari at Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi.

In their 16 Serie A matches this season, Verona has won two, drawn five, and lost nine, resulting in a total of 11 points. This places them two points behind 17th-placed Udinese. Notably, Verona has not secured a league victory since August and is coming off a 1-0 loss to Fiorentina in their most recent outing.

Marco Baroni's team has drawn three of their last four Serie A games, including a 1-1 result against Lazio in their previous home match on December 9.

It's worth noting that Verona finished in the 17th position in Serie A last season, leading them to participate in a relegation tie-breaker against Spezia. In that crucial match, they emerged victorious with a 3-1 scoreline, ensuring their continued presence in the top flight for another campaign.

Verona's team is currently in good condition regarding player availability, although there's uncertainty around Davide Faraoni's participation in the upcoming game due to a muscle issue.

Coach Baroni is likely to field a very similar lineup to the one that played against Fiorentina last time, with Milan Duric leading the attack. However, Ondrej Duda is set to return to the midfield after serving a suspension in the previous match.

Cagliari, on the other hand, will miss Eldor Shomurodov due to a foot problem until the end of next month, while Marko Rog continues to be sidelined with a serious knee injury. Leonardo Pavoletti, the team's top scorer in Serie A with four goals this season, is expected to feature in the forward line for the visiting team.

Coach Ranieri might stick with the same starting eleven from their positive performance against Napoli recently, assuming there are no unexpected fitness issues ahead of this match.
