On Saturday, Besiktas will take on Goztepe SK, hoping to recover from a lackluster performance that has jeopardized their chances of securing a European spot.

In the Turkish Super Lig, the Black Eagles are now two points behind the newly-promoted Eyupspor and are eager to get back to winning against a Goztepe team that’s been struggling.

Goztepe’s tough stretch continued with a tight 1-0 loss to Konyaspor last weekend, marking their 10th consecutive game without a win in the league.

Based in Izmir, Goztepe haven’t celebrated a victory since mid-January and are now only six points clear of the relegation zone, with seven matches remaining.

After a promising start to the season, Goztepe’s form has plummeted in the latter half, with the team visibly low on confidence, particularly at the back, having let in goals in each of their last 10 league outings.

Facing Besiktas, who are determined to revive their European ambitions, Saturday’s match will be a tough challenge for Goztepe.

Interestingly, this will be the third time these teams meet this season, with Goztepe having triumphed in both prior encounters, including a recent Turkish Cup win earlier this month.

Besiktas suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Istanbul Basaksehir in their last match, which pushed them out of the European qualification spots, now surpassed by Eyupspor, who have played one more game.

With a trip to Fenerbahce yet to come, Besiktas has to stop their losing streak on Saturday in order to increase their chances of finishing in the top four. The team has lost both of their road games, drew the other one.

The host's defensive options have been severely hampered by Isaac Solet's cruciate ligament injury, which will keep him out for the rest of the season.

With Felix Uduokhai and Emirhan Topcu out by injury, Tayyip Talha Sanuc returns from suspension for Besiktas and is expected to pair at center-back.

While neither Bakhtiyor Zaynutdinov nor Elan Ricardo were anticipated to start this weekend, Kenny Arroyo is slated to replace Ernest Muci due to injury.
