When Ghana hosts Central African Republic on Monday in their 2026 World Cup qualification campaign, they will be hoping to win two straight.

Both teams are aiming to gain momentum going into this match after recent victories that lifted their spirits.

After Ghana's team failed to advance past the group stage of the most recent African Cup of Nations, Otto Addo was once again named manager of the Black Stars, succeeding Chris Hughton, who had previously managed Norwich City.

After Ghana lost 1-0 to Comoros and won 1-0 against Madagascar in their first two 2026 World Cup qualifiers, they only managed three points, which presented Addo with a formidable task.

Little comfort was provided by the 2-2 draw against Uganda and the 2-1 loss to Nigeria in March's international friendly. But on Thursday, they put things right by defeating an impressive Mali 2-1 in a thrilling match.

After Ernest Nuamah tied the score in the second half and Jordan Ayew secured all three points with a stoppage-time winner, the Black Stars trailed Mali 1-0 in the first half.

Ghana now sits third in the group, level on points with leaders Madagascar and second-place Comoros, after winning three of their previous four games.

In their two prior meetings, they had a record of one win, one tie, therefore they will be looking to add another victory.

Venuste Baboula's goal in the first half of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers gave Central African Republic a 1-0 victory over Chad and their first win of the round.

Before Monday's meeting, Raoul Savoy's club is in fifth place with four points from three games. A victory would enable them to pass Ghana and go up to the top of the table, as the point differential in the group is still rather tight.

But they'll face their hardest test yet on Monday when they go to a nation where they were defeated in September of last year, which will be their only previous visit.
