Getafe will try for their debut victory of the campaign and do so against Real Sociedad at the Coliseum on Sunday in La Liga.

On the other hand, La Real will have to respond positively after resounding loss in the midweek’s match against Alaves.

Getafe had a pretty mediocre opening of the new campaign even though they are plagued with a small squad given some transfers that went through at the end of the previous summer transfer window.

They have also had to start their first two games without a proper centre forward, with the summer signing of Christantus Uche who had to be deployed as a striker after being a midfielder.

Uche who featured for Spanish third division last season has proven his worth in the cu of Jose Bordalas by scoring equalizer against Athletic Bilbao in his debut match for the club.

More about this game at the weekend saw the Azulones extended their points margin in the league as they were held to a barren draw against another team from Madrid known as Rayo Vallecano.

Unlike majority of teams, the Getafe was not involved in midweek fixture as their match against Real Betis was postponed due to the involvement of the latter in the Europa Conference League qualifying and the Sunday’s hosts will be hoping that the additional rest would assist them to extricate out from the seven match winless streak in La Liga.

Real Sociedad will arrive at the new season expecting a better performance and way their first three matches of the La Liga season have pitched them; one victory and two defeats.

Their first league game at the new home saw them lose 1-0 to Rayo Vallecano while their second league game on the road was against newly promoted Espanyol which they won 1-0 with Take Kubo scoring the only goal in added time.

Rather of capitalizing on that triumph, Real Sociedad lost again at home to Alaves on Wednesday. Mikel Oyarzabal's straight red card meant that La Real had to play for more than an hour with just 10 men.

Even though Real Sociedad managed to take the lead via Brais Mendez, Alaves eventually prevailed due to the numerical advantage as Asier Villalibre and Toni Martinez both scored a goal to take all three points.

Real Sociedad's poor start has left them in 13th place going into the weekend. They will be hoping to improve their standings by beating Getafe on the road for the first time since February 2021, when they triumphed 1-0.

Borja Mayoral, a striker who has missed the first two games due to a knee injury from last season, will need to be evaluated by Getafe.

Mauro Arambarri was able to play against Rayo Vallecano as a late substitution after suffering an injury on matchday one, and he is now expected to start the game on Sunday.

Alvaro Rodriguez, a forward from Uruguay, is anticipated to be included in the matchday roster having just returned from a loan spell at Real Madrid.

Regarding the visitors, Arvaro Odriozola is doubtful because of an ankle problem, and Aritz Elustondo and Arsen Zakharyan are unavailable.

Imanol Alguacil, the manager of Real Sociedad, will be without one of his most important players as Oyarzabal is scheduled to serve a one-match ban after receiving a red card midweek.
