Georgia will host the Faroe Islands at Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena on Thursday for the first of two international friendly matches.

The Georgian team recently dominated Armenia with a 6-1 victory on March 23, securing their spot in Nations League B. Meanwhile, the Faroe Islands fell 1-0 to Montenegro on March 25 in their second World Cup qualifying group match.

In their game against Armenia, Georgia capitalized on four major scoring opportunities, surging to a 5-0 lead within 27 minutes and ultimately winning 9-1 on aggregate.

Head coach John van 't Schip, who took charge on February 17, has led Georgia to victories in both of his matches so far. These friendlies are crucial for Georgia’s Havakakan squad as they gear up for their World Cup qualifying campaign starting in September, with matches against Turkey and Bulgaria.

Under Schip’s leadership, Georgia have managed one clean sheet in six games, conceding five goals while netting 11, with nine of those coming in their last two encounters with Armenia. Georgia have won two of their last five matches across all competitions, losing two, and remain unbeaten in their last two home games, winning one.

The Faroe Islands struggled offensively against Montenegro, failing to register a single shot on target from inside the box or from open play. They currently sit second from bottom in their five-team World Cup qualifying group, trailing Montenegro by six points for the playoff position.

Faroe Islands’ coach Eydun Klakstein is aiming to end a run of three straight losses, with past defeats to Georgia including a 6-0 thrashing in August 2006 and a 3-1 loss in March 2007. His team have scored just one goal while conceding four in their last three matches and have lost four of their last eight games, winning only once. On the road, the Faroe Islands have been defeated in 11 of their last 14 matches, securing just one victory.
