Feyenoord aims to conclude the 2023-24 Eredivisie campaign with a victory as they prepare to face SBV Excelsior at De Kuip on Sunday afternoon.

As the season enters gameweek 34, Feyenoord stands at 81 points, having experienced an enthralling journey in the league. Meanwhile, SBV Excelsior finds themselves struggling with 29 points, currently residing in the relegation playoff position.

Despite encountering only two defeats in the top-flight matches this season, Feyenoord fell short in their endeavor to retain the title, surrendering the Eredivisie crown to PSV two weeks prior.

Nonetheless, despite this setback, the Pride of South will not conclude the season without accolades. They have secured a berth in the next season's Champions League and clinched the KNVB Beker trophy, triumphing over NEC with a hard-fought 1-0 victory in the final last month.

They played the same opponent in the league last week and had to work hard to win, but they prevailed 3-2 courtesy to a late goal by Ayase Ueda, which came about after their opponents were reduced to 10 men in the second half.

Feyenoord will undergo a significant transformation this summer as manager Arne Slot put an end to rumors by announcing this week that he will be leaving Rotterdam in the summer and moving to the Premier League to take over as Liverpool's manager for the 2024–25 season.

Slot's team aims to conclude their season on a high note, riding a wave of success with a string of victories in their recent matches. They have not tasted defeat in their last 13 games, showcasing their formidable form since their loss to Roma in the Europa League in February.

While Feyenoord's destiny for the season has been settled, Excelsior finds themselves in a precarious position as they hover in the relegation playoff spot. Their final opponent of the season couldn't have been more challenging.

Last week, the Kralingers secured a crucial 4-0 victory against Heracles. However, despite this impressive win, they remain stuck in the bottom three. Their hopes were dashed as RKC Waalwijk, currently in 15th place, salvaged a draw against PEC Zwolle.

Excelsior is now three goals behind RKC, but if they pull off an upset win today and Waalwijk and Heracles lose, they still have a chance to finish the season in 14th place. They would surpass both teams because of HAFC's pitiful goal differential of -33.

But the visitors have lost eight of their past ten away games and have just won two this season. Furthermore, they have been outscored 11-3 in their last three games against this opponent in all competitions.
