Tuesday's postponed Primeira Liga matchup between Sporting Lisbon and Famalicao will see the team try to increase their advantage at the top of the league.

The Vila Nova are attempting to remain unbeaten for the fifth game in a row, while the Lions are hoping to extend their remarkable league unbeaten record to 15 games.

Famalicao twice had the lead but gave it up before ultimately settling for a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Porto on Saturday.

Zaydou Youssouf's own goal and two goals from Jhonder Cadiz in the first half gave the Vila Novas the lead at halftime. But in the 82nd minute, Mehdi Taremi gave Porto the equalizer, and they were unable to hang on, leading to a tight conclusion to the match.

After two games in charge, recently hired head coach Armando Evangelista is still undefeated. Meanwhile, Famalicao has gone four games without a loss, moving them up to eighth position in the league standings, five points behind seventh-place Arouca after 28 games.

When the Vila Novas play another formidable team on Tuesday, they'll be hoping to gain another crucial point. They have only lost one of their past five games against the Lions, though, at Stadium Municipal 22 de Junho.

After being eliminated from the Europa League, Sporting Lisbon reacted magnificently, winning four straight games in the Primeira Liga and qualifying for the Taca de Portugal final with an aggregate victory against Benfica.

Last Friday, the Lions defeated Gil Vicente 4-0, all of the goals coming in the first half. Francisco Trincao scored twice, Ousmane Diomande also found the scoresheet, and an own goal scored the fourth.

Sporting Lisbon is four points clear of Benfica, who have played one more game, at the top of the Primeira Liga standings after winning their past six matches since the 3-3 draw against Rio Ave on February 25.

After Jurgen Klopp decided to leave the Reds after nine years in command at Anfield, there are strong rumors that head coach Ruben Amorim is being groomed to take over as Liverpool's manager.

Though that would be wonderful news for Sporting supporters, the 39-year-old coach has vehemently denied rumors that he has already accepted to take over the Premier League heavyweights. Instead, he insists that his whole emphasis is on leading Sporting to a second league title of his reign.

In their past three trips to Famalicao, the Lions have not lost, drawing two and taking one. They are hoping to win at Stadium Municipal 22 de Junho for a second consecutive game.
