The Estadio Municipal de Famalicao hosts Vitoria de Guimaraes in Primeira Liga round 21 as Famalicao attempts to win at home for the first time since August.

Os Vimaranenses will attempt to maintain their three-game winning streak against the hosts while achieving consecutive victories since November.

The team under Hugo Oliveira achieved their first victory of the season when Famalicao defeated Boavista 2-0 at the Estadio do Bessa during their seventh match.

The visitors began their match perfectly when Vaclav Sejk scored in the fifth minute followed by Gustavo Sa's goal in the 55th minute.

The team's recent performance included ten consecutive matches without a win followed by five losses and five draws before their 2-0 victory against Boavista on January 3. This losing streak culminated in their Taca de Portugal elimination by Santa Clara through a 1-0 defeat on November 24.

The team started the season strongly by winning five matches in their first six games but now occupies position nine in the league table with 24 points from 20 matches while sharing the same points total with Rio Ave in tenth place.

Famalicao has suffered nine consecutive home losses and draws in all competitions while accumulating only 11 points at home this season — Boavista (3) and Farense (7) are the only teams with fewer home points.

Vitoria de Guimaraes, like the hosts this weekend, got back to winning ways last time out, defeating 10-man AVS 2-0 at the Estadio do Desportivo das Aves.

Samu, a 28-year-old midfielder, broke the tie five minutes after halftime in a match where Gustavo Assuncao was given the boot, and Telmo Arcanjo sealed the victory with a goal in the 78th minute.

Vitoria de Guimaraes have lost twice and drawn six times in their last nine games across all competitions, including a shocking 2-1 loss to Campeonato de Portugal team Elvas in the fifth round of the Taca de Portugal on January 12.

With seven victories and eight draws from their 20 Primeira Liga games, Luis Freire's team has 29 points and is now ranked seventh in the standings, 11 points behind Braga in fourth place for the last European qualification spots.

Os Vimaranenses will be hoping to build on their performance from the previous weekend and begin their run for a top-four finish, but their road performance is lacking as they have lost all seven of their league away games since a 2-0 triumph at Braga on September 15.

As they play a team that has lost eight of their past ten games in all competitions since September 2018 and each of their last three meetings, Vitoria de Guimaraes will be rooting for themselves to snap this losing streak.

After seeing his team win for the first time since assuming control, Oliveira might continue with his starting lineup, which would allow Rodrigo Pinheiro, Enea Mihaj, Justin De Haas, and Rafa Soares to return to the back four.

Nuno Santos, a forward who is 25 years old and suspended after receiving his fifth yellow card of the season against AVS last time out, will not play for Vitoria de Guimaraes.
