Estrela vs Porto

Two sides seeking very different goals at opposing ends of the table will face off this weekend at Estadio Jose Gomes, when Porto travels to Estrela Amadora.

The Lions hope to prolong their unbeaten streak in pursuit of a top-three finish, while Estrela hope to reverse their slump and tighten their hold on safety in the Primeira Liga.

Porto won their second league game in a row last weekend, defeating Famalicao 2-1 at Estadio do Dragao, with Rodrigo Mora once again taking the focus with two moments of pure individual greatness.

Mora broke the deadlock just 20 minutes in, weaving through defenders with impressive footwork before his deflected shot found the back of the net. The teenage sensation struck again early in the second half with a beautiful left-footed curler, making Pedro Bondo’s late goal a mere consolation.

At just 17, Mora has become a key figure in Martin Anselmi’s squad, scoring in four of Porto’s last five victories. The only game he didn’t score in was their loss to Benfica, a match that highlighted his growing importance to the team.

That defeat saw Porto slip to fourth place in the standings. While two consecutive wins have brought some stability, they remain one point behind third-placed Braga and are now 10 points off the top two — making a title bid this season highly unlikely.

Still, a win this weekend could push Porto back into the top three. They’ll take confidence from their perfect record against Estrela in the top division — winning all three previous matchups without conceding, including a 2-0 win earlier this season.

Porto’s strong away form adds to their advantage, having collected 26 points from 15 league games on the road — the fourth-best in the league.

Meanwhile, Estrela continues to struggle at home, with five defeats and only two draws in their last seven matches at Estadio Jose Gomes.
