When Estoril Praia and Porto square off in round five of the Taca de Portugal on Tuesday at the Estadio Antonio Coimbra da Mota, both teams will be hoping to get off to a strong start in 2019.

Four weeks ago, the teams played in the Taca da Liga, when the Dragoes lost 3-1. Now, they will try to get even with the hosts and win their first game of the year.

Sporting Lisbon crushed Estoril Praia 5-1 in the Estadio Jose Alvalade on Friday, preventing them from having a fantastic start to the new year.

Viktor Gyokeres, an in-form striker, concluded with a hat-trick of assists, while English winger Marcus Edwards scored twice in the first half to lead the home team to victory.

Before that, Estoril had won three of their four games without a loss, drawing one, and defeating Porto 3-1 when the teams faced off in Group D of the Taca da Liga on December 6.

After Friday's match, Vasco Seabra's team is now tied for 17 points with Boavista and Estrela Amadora, placing them just two points above of Portimonense in 16th place and the relegation playoff berth.

But now, Estoril goes back home, where they have won their past five games, allowing only twice and scored 17 goals since a 1-0 loss to Benfica on October 7.

However, in their Primeira Liga matchup at the Estadio do Bessa on Friday, Porto was unable to make it five straight wins over Boavista, as the two teams were held to a 1-1 stalemate.

After Bruno Lourenco equalized five minutes after Toni Martinez's goal in the 23rd minute, the Dragoes appeared to be headed for an easy win. However, Os Axadrezados produced a defensive masterwork to seal the draw five minutes later.

With 35 points after 16 games, Porto is currently in third place in the Primeira Liga standings, five points behind leaders Sporting Lisbon as a result of this outcome.

The team led by Sergio Conceicao will now focus on the Taca de Portugal. Five weeks prior to crushing Montalegre 4-0 in the second round, the team opened the campaign with a 2-0 victory over Vilar Perdizes on October 20.

In Tuesday's match, Porto will go to the Estadio Antonio Coimbra da Mota, where they had won six times and drawn five times in their previous twelve visits, with December's cup loss being the lone loss.
