AC Milan aims to salvage their Serie A top-four ambition by facing Empoli during their upcoming Saturday evening match.

Milan continues to occupy the eighth position in Serie A while moving ahead in Champions League and Coppa Italia following their recent victories.

The victory at San Siro allowed AC Milan to secure a tie in the semi-finals of Coppa Italia where they will face Inter Milan or Lazio after defeating Roma with a 3-1 score.

The Rossoneri secured their third Derby della Madonnina win during the intense league match against Inter which had happened three days before that victory.

Despite keeping their narrow advantage until stoppage time the team led by Sergio Conceicao nearly pulled off a victory that would have repeated their Supercoppa Italiana triumph from January.

Serie A standings put Milan in an inferior position than Inter who dominate the table after a turbulent season challenge for European qualification continues.

The defensive performance of the Lombardy giants has deteriorated after Conceicao promised security improvements since the weakness of the defense appeared in seven straight league games that resulted in at least one goal being scored.
Milan fans are discontented because the struggling team hasn't managed to win in their last two away matches including those at Juve's stadium and Dinamo Zagreb's stadium. Thus an Erfordiv victory in Tuscany will satisfy this dissenting fanbase.

Empoli experienced a complete shutout in November's match versus these opponents and have never scored against them in their most recent four encounters and have suffered seven losses in their previous eight games.

In reality, the Tuscan club has never managed to secure a top-flight victory against Milan at the Stadio Castellani, having fallen short in all 32 previous attempts.

Roberto D'Aversa’s team is also struggling with their recent form, as they remain without a win in 2025. Their latest setback was a heavy 4-1 loss to Juventus, which further highlighted their difficulties.

Although Empoli initially took the lead through former Juventus player Mattia De Sciglio and even had a penalty awarded—only for it to be overturned by VAR—they collapsed defensively. They conceded two goals in a quick three-minute span just after the hour mark and allowed two more during stoppage time.

Over the past eight matchdays, the Azzurri have accumulated the fewest points—just two—while conceding the most goals (18). This poor run has left them just one point above the relegation zone, setting the stage for another intense battle to avoid the drop.

At the Castellani, Empoli have managed only one league win all season, scoring a mere five goals in the process. Given these struggles, overcoming Milan appears to be an especially daunting challenge.
