Dominican Republic vs Suriname

With no chance of advancing, both teams are eager to secure at least one victory before exiting. The Dominican Republic, in their debut Gold Cup campaign, showed spirit but fell short, losing 3-2 to Mexico and 2-1 to Costa Rica after taking an early lead in the latter. These defeats mark their first consecutive international losses in 2025 and their first back-to-back losses against CONCACAF teams since 2022.

Los Quisqueyanos, led by Marcelo Neveleff, are still chasing their first-ever Gold Cup win as they face Suriname, a first-time opponent in this competition. Despite scoring five goals in their last four competitive matches, their defense has been a weak point, conceding nine goals in three losses.

Suriname, in their fourth Gold Cup appearance, have again failed to advance past the group stage, with only one win in their tournament history. Natio showed fight in a 4-3 loss to Costa Rica, where they overcame a two-goal deficit only to concede a late penalty. However, they couldn’t maintain that intensity, losing 2-0 to Mexico with both goals from Cesar Montes.

Under Stanley Menzo, Suriname have now lost two straight games for the first time since November 2024, ending a four-match unbeaten run before the tournament. They’ll look to avoid a third consecutive defeat in this clash.
