The NBA season's greatest tale still revolves around the Detroit Pistons. They are set to qualify for the playoffs for the first time since 2018–19 with a 40–32 record.

When they welcome the struggling San Antonio Spurs tonight, Cade Cunningham and company will try to dominate with their stifling defense. That D has my predictions for the Spurs versus. Pistons centered on a player prop for a San Antonio player who could have a difficult night.

The Detroit Pistons have been one of the most exciting teams to follow this season.

Cade Cunningham is proving why he was the No. 1 overall pick, putting up impressive numbers with 25.7 points, 9.2 assists, and 6.1 rebounds per game. But he’s not doing it alone—the Pistons boast a talented young core featuring Jalen Duren, Ausar Thompson, and Jaden Ivey (despite his current injury).

This team isn’t just about offense, either. Under head coach J.B. Bickerstaff, Detroit has developed into a strong defensive squad, ranking ninth in defensive rating and 12th in opponent effective field goal percentage. That defensive intensity should give them an edge against the San Antonio Spurs tonight.

Speaking of the Spurs, their season started with promise but has taken a hit after losing Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox to season-ending injuries. With those two sidelined, much of the scoring load has fallen on rookie Stephon Castle, who has risen to the occasion with 20 points per game over his last 13 outings. That’s why his points prop is set at 20.5 for tonight’s matchup.

However, Castle has been inconsistent lately, scoring under 20 points in six of his last nine games while shooting just 30% from three. And with Detroit’s defense likely focusing on slowing him down, he could struggle to hit his mark.

This sets up as a great opportunity for the Pistons to capitalize on San Antonio’s depleted roster and defensive woes. Expect Detroit’s young core to shine on both ends of the floor.
