Comoros vs Chad

Chad is set to travel to Comoros on Tuesday, hoping to secure their first victory in the CAF World Cup qualifiers. The two teams are in Group I, with Comoros sitting in third place and Chad at the bottom—separated by a nine-point gap.

Comoros missed an opportunity to move level with the group leaders after a 3-0 defeat to Mali, a match played on neutral ground in Morocco. The loss leaves them three points behind Ghana and behind Madagascar in the standings.

Facing the group’s weakest side, Comoros will be eager to rebound. They previously defeated Chad 2-0 in their first encounter, giving them confidence heading into this match.

Meanwhile, Chad’s qualifying campaign has been disappointing, with five losses in five matches. They are one of only three teams yet to earn a single point in the qualifiers, having scored just once while conceding 14 goals—making them one of the competition’s weakest performers.

Chad’s struggles extend beyond this campaign. In their last eight World Cup qualifiers, they’ve managed only one point, scoring twice and letting in 22 goals. Their chances of turning things around against Comoros appear slim.

Despite Ghana's disappointing failure to qualify for the recent AFCON tournament, Otto Addo—former Borussia Dortmund assistant coach—has retained his position as head coach of the Black Stars. The team's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, however, has shown more promise.

Ghana, who made their World Cup debut in 2006 and later appeared in 2010, 2014, and 2022, currently sit second in Group I, trailing Comoros only on goal difference. With a strong attacking lineup featuring Jordan Ayew, Inaki Williams, Antoine Semenyo, and Ernest Nuamah, the Black Stars will look to capitalize on their next match against a struggling Chad side.

Chad has endured a dismal qualifying campaign, losing all four of their matches while scoring just once and conceding nine goals. Ranked 176th in the world and led by manager Kevin Nicaise, they are among Africa's weakest teams.
