Sunday afternoon at the Tupras Stadyumu, Besiktas will be seeking to go back to winning ways when they take on Istanbul Basaksehir.

After two losses in their previous three games, the Black Eagles have fallen out of the top four in the Turkish Super Lig and are now fifth in the standings with 19 points.Burak Yilmaz's Besiktas has lost four of his previous five games in all competitions, including a 2-1 home loss to Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Europa Conference League on Thursday. Things have not been good for the team thus far under the interim manager.

Their recent bad performance in Europe has also affected their domestic affairs; in the last month, they have lost the league on the road, 3-2, to Antalyaspor and by a score of 2-1 to Galatasaray.

Yilmaz had started the season strong, defeating Istanbulspor in his first game. However, since then, he has only managed one more victory across all competitions and four losses, including his past two games.

Besiktas hasn't lost three straight games since November 2021, but on the plus side, they've won four of their last five home games and are still undefeated this season.

In contrast, Istanbul Basaksehir has only triumphed once in their previous five Super Lig encounters, a 2-0 victory against Gaziantep more than a month ago.

Cagdas Atan's team is currently 18th in the table and is already struggling for survival as a result of their bad run of play.

Though that is still a significant improvement over their first six games of the season, which resulted in only one win and five losses, the squad has taken six of the past fifteen points that have been offered.

With one victory and two draws in six Super Liga games this season, their away record is not as horrible as one may first assume, despite their current position in the relegation zone.

Istanbul Basaksehir has only scored two goals in their last six away games, which raises concerns about their attacking ability.

The first team's six injured players mean that the hosts have a less than ideal lineup going into this game.

Important players like Omar Colley, Vincent Aboubakar, and Arthur Masuaku would undoubtedly make Yilmaz's job of selecting his starting lineup simpler, but Cenk Tosun and Daniel Amartey will also have an opportunity to shine on Sunday.

Besiktas suffered another setback on Thursday, losing 2-1 to Bodo/Glimt. Eric Bailly, the central defender, had to leave the field in less than 30 minutes due to an injury and is questionable for Sunday's match.
