On Saturday, Bayern Munich will play RB Leipzig in the DFL-Supercup for the second straight year.

Bayern hopes to win this championship for the eighth time in the last eight years after winning the last match 5-3 in a thrilling contest.

Prior to winning versus Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena in the 2017 DFL-Supercup, Bayern had defeated Borussia Dortmund in eight of the previous ten DFL-Supercups. Leipzig's recent DFB-Pokal victories have thus offered a nice change of scenery.

Bayern is a frequent participant in Germany's first match after thrilling victory against Dortmund on the final day of the Bundesliga season allowed them to win their 11th straight championship.

With the acquisitions of Kim Min-jae, Konrad Laimer, and Raphael Guerreiro during the summer transfer window, Thomas Tuchel's team will enter the season as hot favorites to extend their streak to 12 by next May.

However, with Yann Sommer, Marcel Sabitzer, Sadio Mane, and Lucas Hernandez gone, the roster is already thin and needs more players to feel confidence fighting on numerous fronts as expected by Bayern's leadership.

As a late replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who left for Barcelona last year, the Bavarians are after Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur. However, as of this writing, the England striker is still considering the move after Bayern finally had a bid accepted by Spurs on Thursday morning.

While waiting for the Bundesliga season to start next weekend, Tuchel must find solutions from a roster that is undeniably good. The former Chelsea manager won't want to start the season with a loss against one of their top rivals.

As a result of the high-profile players Josko Gvardiol, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Christopher Nkunku being sold to Premier League clubs for significant sums of money, as well as the departures of players like Marcel Halstenberg, Angelino, Andre Silva, and Laimer, Leipzig may be entering a period of transition.

As is frequently the case under the Red Bull ownership model, Die Roten Bullen have adopted a long-term strategy by looking to youth as their replacements. So far, permanent deals have been attracted for Lois Openda, Benjamin Sesko, Nicolas Seiwald, Christoph Baumgartner, and El Chadaille Bitshiabu.

Talented attacking midfielders Xavi Simons and Fabio Carvalho from Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool, respectively, have also signed on season-long loans. Marco Rose may be demanding more new hires, though, if they are to continue their continuous run of success after his hiring as their manager last September, considering that they had made about £250 million in sales.

Indeed, following their DFL-Supercup loss to Bayern at the end of July, Domenico Tedesco's 22-month tenure was prematurely ended after he presided over only two victories in seven games, one of which was an 8-0 thrashing of fourth division team Teutonia Ottensen in the DFB-Pokal.

Rose adopted a consistent playing approach, winning 28 of 41 games throughout all competitions to easily lead Leipzig into the Champions League's knockout rounds and secure their spot in the premier league for this season. Most notably, he played a key role in their recapturing the German domestic cup with a decisive 2-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the championship game.

The latest Leipzig makeover may take some time to fully bear fruit, but the club's new recruits will be eager to make a quick impression by shining on Saturday against Germany's most feared team at the Allianz Arena.
