Barcelona vs Osasuna

Barcelona takes the field on Thursday to play their rearranged La Liga match against Osasuna at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.

The fixture faced postponement because of Barcelona's club doctor Carles Minarro Garcia's death and both teams failed to succeed with their March 27 date protests due to their concerns regarding its nearness to the international break.

Barcelona continues to pursue three additional titles beyond their January Spanish Super Cup victory while maintaining an 18-match undefeated streak throughout competitions since their victory against Atletico Madrid in December (W15, D3).

Before the international break the Blaugrana played important matches starting with their thrilling 4-4 draw against Atletico while facing off in the first Copa del Rey semifinal match.

The Spanish club dominated Real Sociedad with a 4-0 victory before moving past Benfica by an aggregate score of 4-2 to face Champions League quarter-finals with Borussia Dortmund who finished second in the previous season.

Barcelona pulled through from behind 2-0 to secure a dramatic 4-2 win against Atletico Madrid during their pre-break match and jumped four points ahead of their rival into the league summit with Real Madrid.

The teams will seek an eighth consecutive league victory on Thursday as Barcelona plays their scheduled match to achieve a three-point lead at the top of the table for their second league title in three years.

The advantage for Barcelona continues to grow since their four successive home La Liga matches against Osasuna have produced a total of ten goals.

The defeat against Getafe would have been especially frustrating, as they squandered a halftime lead to suffer a 2-1 loss. This leaves them languishing in 14th place, dangerously close to the relegation battle.

Despite having a six-point cushion above the drop zone, manager Vicente Moreno knows he must turn things around quickly to ease the mounting pressure. However, the challenge doesn’t get any easier, with tough away matches against Barcelona and Athletic Club looming.

Mallorca’s away record against Barcelona is poor, with their last victory at Camp Nou dating back to July 2020. Osasuna may have benefited from the international break as it allowed them to regroup after going six games without a victory across all competitions.

They drew back-to-back league games against Mallorca and Real Madrid after losing to Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey to start that lackluster stretch of play.

Osasuna lost to Celta Vigo and Getafe after a 3-3 draw with Valencia, unable to capitalize on their hard-earned point against Los Blancos.
