Next for the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA is the Miami Heat. In the Western Conference standings, both clubs are tied and only one game separates them.
The Hawks, now in ninth place in the East, are looking to end a three-game losing streak. After the All-Star break, they have lost both of their ties, the most recent of which being a 148-143 setback to the Pistons at home.
In this three-game skid, this was the second game in which both teams had scored more than 140 points. The Hawks have lost 31 games and are now five games below.500. They are now on the second night of a back-to-back.
With a victory here, the Heat will be looking to extend their lead over the Hawks by one game. This is the second night of a back-to-back for Erik Spoelstra's team as well.
They defeated the Raptors 120-111 in overtime after the All-Star break. They were pinned back and fell 120-113 in their subsequent game against the Bucks at Milwaukee.
After their 29th loss of the season, the Heat are currently three games below.500. Miami was defeated 120-110 in the season's first encounter just after Christmas, after having won two straight in Atlanta.
If the Heat can make the most of their shooting opportunities and steer clear of any first-half problems, they will cover the spread. They then have to exert dominance over the boards and increase their chances of winning.
Quin Snyder, the coach, stressed the significance of this game and all subsequent games. This contest seems like two games since the Hawks are behind the Heat in the playoff chase.
The Heat have played mediocre basketball to this point this season, yet are still in contention for the Southeast Division title. Coincidentally, they find themselves stuck in a logjam with the Hawks and Orlando Magic, as all three teams struggle to stay afloat in the playoff race. Despite their inconsistencies, the Heat have as good a chance as any team to turn things around and make something positive happen as the season progresses.
Tyler Herro understands the urgency to play better and will look to carry the Heat in this crucial stretch. Unfortunately, it has felt like a struggle all season, with the team failing to deliver consistent performances. However, there is still hope for a revival. Andrew Wiggins, the newest star on the squad, represents a major piece of the trade that sent Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors. His performance will be pivotal to the Heat's chances of success, and his presence should provide Herro with much-needed support when the pressure mounts. Of course, for the Heat to truly thrive, they will need others on the roster to step up and contribute consistently.
This team's driving force, Trae Young, needs to steer clear of the inconsistent behavior that has frequently dogged him. Although he is among the finest players in the game overall, he has struggled with shooting. Young has to be more reliable when shooting and show respect for his teammates when the opportunity presents itself. Caris Levert and Dyson Daniels have to step up and aid Jalen Johnson now that he's not there. Onyeka Okongwu and Georges Niang must also maintain control of the boards and prevent Adebayo from outperforming them. Since control of the boards may affect the outcome of the game, this will likely be the most crucial struggle.
