On Sunday Getafe plans to continue their undefeated streak in La Liga to reach five games when they play at Alaves.

The visitors currently occupy 14th position in the La Liga table because of their outstanding recent performance while Alaves remain in 18th position behind 17th-place Espanyol in the fight to stay in the league.

Alaves accumulated 21 points through 22 La Liga matches after five victories, six draws and eleven losses thus placing them in 18th position behind Espanyol.

Under the leadership of Eduardo Coudet the team achieved ten-place position during the 2023-24 season but this year el Glorioso struggles to stay from relegation with 16 matches remaining until the end of the season.

Eduardo Coudet leads Alaves against Getafe after a 1-0 loss against Barcelona followed by their recent three-game sequence yielding four points for his team.

This season Alaves managed to get only 13 points from their 10 home-bound league matches while Getafe secured eight points from their 10 away fixtures.

History shows both teams fought for a 1-0 win in the previous encounter of the 2023-24 season yet Getafe defeated Alaves 2-0 at their home stadium this year.

Getafe is undefeated in La Liga in 2025, having picked up eight points from four games against Las Palmas, Barcelona, Real Sociedad, and Sevilla, putting them in 14th place in the standings.

Jose Bordalas' team is still fighting for survival, although they are three points clear of the relegation zone and only four points below Real Sociedad in 11th place.

Getafe has the second-best defensive record in La Liga this season, surrendering just 17 goals, but the second-worst offensive record, scoring only 17.

However, Bordalas's squad lost 5-0 to Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey quarterfinals on Tuesday night, showing little evidence of defensive unity.

Even with their goalscoring problems, Getafe is undoubtedly too good defensively to finish at the bottom of Spain's top division, so it wouldn't be shocking to see them in a similar position this season after finishing 12th in La Liga last season.
