Al-Nassr Look to Bounce Back Against Struggling Al Okhdood

Al-Nassr’s hopes of a top-three finish in the Saudi Pro League are in jeopardy as they prepare to face relegation-threatened Al Okhdood on Monday. Sitting fourth with 60 points, they trail third-placed Al Ahli by just one point but desperately need a win to keep their continental qualification dreams alive.

The visitors arrive in Najran on a worrying run of form, having lost back-to-back matches in the league and AFC Champions League. Their continental campaign ended in heartbreak with a 3-2 semi-final defeat to Kawasaki Frontale, followed by a collapse against Al Ittihad—squandering a two-goal lead to lose 3-2.

Despite a mid-season resurgence that briefly closed the gap at the top, Al-Nassr now sit 11 points behind the leaders with just four games left. Their focus has shifted to securing a top-three finish, and history favors them in this fixture—they’ve beaten Al Okhdood in all three previous meetings, scoring three goals each time.

Al Okhdood, meanwhile, are fighting for survival, just two points above the drop zone. Though they’ve shown recent improvement with three wins in six matches, their home form remains a major weakness—they’ve lost nine times at Prince Hathloul Stadium, the joint-worst record in the league.

With clean sheets in three of those games, that run was based on a strong defensive base. However, Al Okhdood's determination wavered last time out as they lost 2-1 to another struggling team Al Wahda, despite leading.

The outcome ended their five-game winning streak and was the first time since late February that the Najran team had allowed more than one goal in a contest.

Given that Al-Nassr has scored at least twice in six of their previous seven league games, Paulo Sergio's team's ability to limit the attacking threat will be crucial to their chances of rescuing anything here.

With Al-Nassr boasting the league’s best away record (32 points from 15 games), this clash presents a golden opportunity to steady their ship. But Al Okhdood, desperate for points, won’t go down without a fight.
